- .... So she returned to Mecca, saying: "By Allah, Uthman was killed unjustly, and I will certainly seek vengeance for his blood." Then Ibn Umm Kulab said to her: "And why is that? By Allah, you were the first to tilt your palm in support, and you used to say: 'Kill the Nthawi, for he has disbelieved.'" She replied: "They sought to repent from him, then killed him," and I said, and they said: "My last statement is better than my first." Ibn Umm Kulab said to her:
"From you is the change of heart, and from you the anger, and from you the winds and from you the rain.
And you commanded the murder of the Imam, and told us he had disbelieved."
"So we feared you would obey in killing him, and that fighting him was within our means.
And the ceiling did not collapse upon us, nor did our sun and moon be eclipsed."
"People have pledged allegiance to one with a shield, who will remove the thorns and set things right,
And wear the garments of war, and none is more faithful than one who has betrayed."

- .... Na‘thal: al-Na‘thal: the foolish old man, and it is said that he is in a state of Na‘thala, meaning foolishness. Al-Na‘thal: the male hyena, specifically the male of the hyenas, and Na‘thal is its plural, while al-Na‘thala is the collective form.
- .... And Na‘thal: a man from the people of Egypt who was long-bearded. It was said that he resembled Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). This is the opinion of Abu Ubayd, and those who insulted Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) used to call him Na‘thal.
- .... And in the narration of ʿA'isha: "Kill Na‘thal; may Allah kill Na‘thal," she meant Uthman, and this was her response when she was angry with him and went to Mecca.

- Na'athal: The Na'athal is like Ja'far: the Dhi'kh, which is the male of hyenas and al-Layth said that the Na'athal was an old fool, and a Na'athal Jew who was in the city. It was said that he resembled Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) as mentioned in al-Tabsir, and it was said that Na'athal was a man from Lakhyan, meaning long-bearded, from the people of Egypt, who resembled Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) when grievances were raised against him due to his long beard, and they would not find any fault in him other than this. This is the opinion of Abu Ubayd.
- In the hadith of Aisha: "Kill the Na'athals; may Allah kill the Na'athals," she meant Uthman, and this was her reaction when she was angry with him and went to Mecca.

- Na'thal: In the account of the murder of Uthman, it should not prevent you from being angry at the position of Ibn Salam that you curse Na'thal. The enemies of Uthman used to call him Na'thal, likening him to a man from Egypt who had a long beard named Na'thal. It is also said: Na'thal refers to the foolish old man. Al-Dhahabi mentioned and from this is the narration of Aisha: "Kill Na'thal; may Allah kill Na'thal," referring to Uthman. This was her response when he displeased her, and she went to Mecca.

- .... Uthman's favoritism towards his kinsmen, the branches of the accursed tree mentioned in the Quran, and his arrogance in satisfying his own desires and those of the Umayyad family with the wealth of the Muslims, along with his violation of the dignity of the elite of the Muslims, such as Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, Abu Dharr, and Ammar ibn Yasir, were what necessitated Uthman's killing. Therefore, the dignitaries of the Emigrants and the Ansar unanimously agreed on his murder, and Al-Zubayr and Talhah were at the forefront of those attacking him, who besieged him and cut off his access to water. The voice of the Mother of the Believers, Aisha, was raised with her saying: "Kill Na'thal! May Allah kill him!"

- .... He said: They mentioned that when news reached Aisha that allegiance had been pledged to Ali while she was outside the city, she was told: "Uthman has been killed and the people have pledged allegiance to Ali." She said: "I would not care if the heavens fell upon the earth. By God, he was killed unjustly, and I am seeking revenge for his blood." Then Ubaid said to her: "You are indeed the first to have been offended by this and the first to have incited others against him, and you said: 'Kill al-Nathal, for he has transgressed.'" Aisha replied: "By God, I did say that, and the people said so. My last words are better than my first."

- .... They said: The first to call Uthman "Nathal" was Aisha, and "Nathal" means one with a lot of beard and body hair. She would say: "Kill Nathal, may God kill Nathal."
- .... And al-Mada'ini narrated in his book Al-Jamal that he said: When Uthman was killed, Aisha was in Mecca, and when the news of his death reached her while she was in Sharaf, she did not doubt that Talha was the one with authority. And she said: "Woe to Nathal and destruction upon him!" Look at this finger, look at this father of a cub, look at this son of a cousin! It is as if I see his finger as he is pledging allegiance to him: "Herd the camels and shake them off."

- He said: Qays ibn Abi Hazim narrated that he performed Hajj in the year that Uthman was killed and was with Aisha when she heard of his death, and she set out for Medina. He said: He heard her say along the way: "Ah, this finger!" And when she mentioned Uthman, she said: "May God distance him!" until news of the pledge of allegiance to Ali reached her, and she said: "I wish this had happened to that," then she ordered her companions' mounts to be returned to Mecca, and they were returned with her. He saw her on her journey to Mecca speaking to herself as if she were addressing someone: "They killed the son of Affan, wronged!" He said to her, "O Mother of the Believers, did I not just hear you say, 'May God distance him,' and I saw you before that as one of the harshest people against him and the most unreasonable in your words about him?" She replied: "That was indeed the case, but I considered the matter and saw that they had called him to repentance, and when they left him like white silver, they came to him fasting, in a state of ihram, in a sacred month, and killed him."

- .... Then we return to what we were discussing and say: And this Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, emerged with the shirt of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and said to the people: This is the shirt of the Messenger of Allah, which has not worn out, while Uthman has worn out his Sunnah. Then she said: Kill the Na'thal; may Allah kill the Na'thal. Furthermore, she was not satisfied with that until she said: I testify that Uthman is a carcass on the Sirat tomorrow. Some people say she narrated a report regarding this.
