Volume: (3) - Page Number: (99)
4599 - Abu Umar and Uthman ibn Ahmad ibn al-Sammaak narrated to us in Baghdad, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Mansur al-Harithiy narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Qais ibn Abi Hazim, from Abu Sahla, the freedman of Uthman, from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Call me – or I wish a man from my companions was with me." She said: I said, "Abu Bakr?" He replied, "No." I said, "Umar?" He said, "No." I said, "Your cousin, Ali?" He answered, "No." I said, "Then Uthman?" He said, "Yes." She said: Then Uthman came and he said, "Stand up." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) began to speak quietly to Uthman, and Uthman's expression changed. She said:
"When the day of the House (Dar) came, we said, 'Will you not fight?' He replied, 'No, for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) entrusted me with a matter, and I am patient, keeping myself steadfast in it.'" This is a narration with a sound chain of transmission, but they did not include it in their works.
