If ye two turn in repentance to Him, your hearts are indeed so inclined, revealed concerning Ayesha

Hadith No: 1

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

I intended to ask `Umar about those two ladies who back each other against 'Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) . For one year I was seeking the opportunity to ask this question, but in vain, until once when I accompanied him for Hajj. While we were in Zahran, `Umar went to answer the call of nature and told me to follow him with some water for ablution. So I followed him with a container of water and started pouring water for him. I found it a good opportunity to ask him, so I said, "O chief of the Believers! Who were those two ladies who had backed each other (against the Prophet)?" Before I could complete my question, he replied, "They were `Aisha and Hafsa."

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

I had been eager to ask `Umar bin Al-Khattab about the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet regarding whom Allah said 'If you two (wives of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) namely Aisha and Hafsa) turn in repentance to Allah, your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) likes). (66.4) till `Umar performed the Hajj and I too, performed the Hajj along with him. (On the way) `Umar went aside to answer the call of nature, and I also went aside along with him carrying a tumbler full of water, and when `Umar had finished answering the call of nature, I poured water over his hands and he performed the ablution. Then I said to him, "O chief of the Believers! Who were the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) regarding whom Allah said: 'If you two (wives of the Prophet) turn in repentance to Allah your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) likes)?" (66.4) He said, "I am astonished at your question, O Ibn `Abbas. They were `Aisha and Hafsa." Then `Umar went on narrating the Hadith...

4668 - Narrated from Ibn Abbas who said:I said to Umar ibn al-Khattab, "Who were the two women who opposed each other?" He replied, "Aisha and Hafsa." The beginning of the narration was concerning Mary, the Coptic mother of Ibrahim, whom the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was intimate with in Hafsa's house on her day. Hafsa found out and said, "O Prophet of Allah, you have done something to me that you have not done to any of your wives on my day, in my turn, and on my bed." He said, "Would you not be pleased if I vowed to keep her away from you and not approach her?" She replied, "Yes," so he vowed to keep her away and said, "Do not mention this to anyone." However, she mentioned it to Aisha, and Allah made it known to her. So Allah, the Exalted, revealed: {O Prophet, why do you prohibit what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives?} (Surah al-Tahreem 66:1) The verses continued, and it reached us that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) expiated his oath and was intimate with his concubine.

4670 - .... Until one day Hafsa said: O Messenger of Allah, I have a need with my father regarding some money he owes me, so grant me permission to go to him. He permitted her, and then sent for his slave girl Maria and brought her into Hafsa’s house, and he consummated the relationship with her. Hafsa said: I found the door closed, so I sat by the door. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came out, distressed, his face dripping with sweat, and Hafsa was crying. He said: What makes you weep? She replied: You only permitted me for this. You brought your slave girl into my house and then consummated the relationship with her on my bed. You would not do this with one of the women among us. By Allah, it is not lawful for you to do this, O Messenger of Allah. He said: By Allah, I did not lie. Is she not my slave girl? Allah has made her lawful for me. I make you a witness that she is haram (forbidden) to me, seeking your approval. Do not tell any of the women about this; it is a trust with you. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) left, Hafsa knocked on the wall that was between her and Aisha and said: Shall I not give you good news that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has made his slave girl haram on him, and Allah, the Exalted, has relieved us of her? Then Allah revealed: {O Prophet, why do you prohibit what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives?} (Surah al-Tahreem 66:1) And then he said: {And if they conspire against you} (Surah al-Tahreem 66:4) it is Aisha and Hafsa. They were not hiding anything from each other.....
