She said: "What water is this?" They replied: "The water of al-Haw'ab." She said: "I do not think I will do anything but return." Then some of those who were with her said: "No, you should go on, and the Muslims will see you, and Allah, the Almighty, will reconcile their hearts." - .... And Imam Ahmad said: Yahya ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Qais narrated to us, saying: When Aisha set out - meaning on her way to the Battle of the Camel - and reached the waters of Banu Amir at night, the dogs began to bark. She said, "What water is this?" They replied, "The water of al-Haw'ab." She said, "I do not think I will do anything but return." Then some of those who were with her said, "No, you will go forward, and the Muslims will see you, and Allah will reconcile their hearts." She replied, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to us one day, 'How will it be with one of you upon whom the dogs of al-Haw'ab bark?'"
- .... Then Ahmad narrated it from Gundir, from Shu'bah, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Qais ibn Abi Hazim: that Aisha, when she passed by al-Haw'ab and heard the barking of the dogs, said, "I do not think I will do anything but return. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to us, 'Which of you will be barked at by the dogs of al-Haw'ab?'" Al-Zubair said to her, "You will return. Perhaps Allah will reconcile the people through you," and this is an isnaad (chain of transmission) that meets the criteria of the two Sahihs, although they did not include it.
- .... And the Hafiz Abu Bakr al-Bazzar said: Muhammad ibn Osman ibn Karama narrated to us, Ubaydullah ibn Musa narrated to us, from Isam ibn Qudama al-Bajjali, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, 'I wish I knew which of you will be the companion of the camel, al-Dabbah, who will walk until the dogs of al-Haw'ab bark at her, and many creatures will be killed on her right and on her left.'"

When Zaynab passed away, we realized that she had been the longest in doing good and charity. She said: Zaynab would prepare and give away provisions secretly to the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) troops, and they would use them to sew and assist themselves in their military campaigns. I replied: "Yes." He asked: "For how much?" I said: "For a thousand dirhams." He said: "Are you mad? A camel for a thousand dirhams?" I replied: "Yes, this is my camel." He asked: "What is it to you?" I said: "I have never asked anyone for it without being able to reach them, nor has anyone been able to catch me while I am on it." He said: "If you knew whom we wanted, you would have handled the sale well." I asked: "Whom do you want?" He replied: "Your mother." I said: "My mother is left sitting in her house. What does she want with a helper?" He said: "I only want it for the Mother of the Believers, Aisha." I said: "Then it is yours, so take it without payment." He said: "No, but return with us to the encampment, and we will give you a breeding she-camel and add some dirhams." So, I returned, and they gave me a breeding she-camel and added four hundred or six hundred dirhams. One of them said to me: "O brother of the 'Urani, do you know the way?" I replied: "Yes, I am one of the most knowledgeable people." He said: "Then travel with us," and I traveled with them. There was no valley or water that came before me except that they asked me about it until we reached the water of Hawa'ib, and its dogs barked at us. They said: "What water is this?" I replied: "The water of Hawa'ib." Then Aisha shouted with the loudest voice, struck the foreleg of her she-camel, brought it to kneel, and said: "I am, by God, the one associated with the dogs of Hawa'ib." - .... And Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid narrated similarly from Qais ibn Abi Hazim from Aisha (may she be pleased with her) that shepassed by a water source, and the dogs of al-Haw'ub barked at her. So she asked about the water, and they said: "This is the water of al-Haw'ub." The story behind this is that Talha and al-Zubayr, after the killing of Uthman and the pledge of allegiance to Ali, went out to Mecca, and Aisha (may she be pleased with her) was performing Hajj that year due to the gathering of the people of corruption and mischief from the lands in Medina for the killing of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Aisha (may she be pleased with her) left, fleeing from the fitna. When Talha and al-Zubayr caught up with her, they took her to Basra in pursuit of Uthman's blood from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, the son of her sister Asma bint al-Napqtayn, was with them. When Aisha (may she be pleased with her) arrived at this water with them, the dogs barked at her, so she asked about the water and its name, and it was said to her, "al-Haw'ub." She then remembered the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) words: "One of you will be barked at by the dogs of al-Haw'ub," so she paused and resolved to return. Then her nephew, the son of her sister, ibn al-Zubayr, entered her and said: "This is not the water of al-Haw'ub," until it was said that he swore to that and atoned for his oath - and Allah knows best. Aisha (may she be pleased with her) directed herself towards Basra, and the well-known event of the Camel took place.

So, Sa'id ibn al-As reached Yemen, and al-Mughira went to Ta'if, and they did not witness anything of the Wars of the Camel or Siffin. When they reached the water of al-Haw'ab on the way, with A'isha accompanying them, the dogs of al-Haw'ab barked at her. She said to Muhammad ibn Talhah: "What water is this?" He replied: "This is the water of al-Haw'ab." She said: "I do not see anything but that I am returning." He asked, "Why?" She replied: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say to his wives: 'I can see one of you being barked at by the dogs of al-Haw'ab,' and beware that you are not the one, O Red-Haired (referring to you, Umm al-Mu'minin, A'isha)!"
