4685 - Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafid narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Talhah al-Qannad, the trustworthy and reliable, narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn Hashim ibn al-Barid narrated to me from his father, who said: Abu Sa'id al-Taymi narrated to me from Abu Thabit, the freedman of Ubayd al-Dhar, who said:
"I was with Ali (r) on the day of the Camel, and when I saw Aisha standing, I was filled with some of what fills people." But Allah removed that from me at the time of the Dhuhr prayer, and I fought alongside the Commander of the Faithful. When it was all over, I went to Medina and visited Umm Salama. I said: "By Allah, I did not come to ask for food or drink, but I am a freedman of Ubayd al-Dhar." She said: "Welcome!" and I narrated my story to her. She said: "Where were you when hearts were flying in all directions?" I replied: "To where Allah removed that from me at the decline of the sun."
She said: "You did well. I heard the Messenger of Allah (p) say: 'Ali is with the Qur'an and the Qur'an is with Ali. They will not be separated until they return to me at the Pond.'" This is a hadith with a sound chain of narration, and Abu Sa'id al-Taymi is Uqayqisa, trustworthy and reliable, and neither of the two compilers narrated it.
