31670 - From Urwah who said: I asked Aisha, "Who was the most beloved person to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?" She replied, "Ali ibn Abi Talib." I said, "What was the reason for your opposition to him?" She said, "Did your father not marry your mother?" I said, "That is part of God's decree." She replied, "And that was also part of God's decree."

- .... He said: And when Talhah, al-Zubayr, and A'isha settled at Awtaas in the land of Khaybar, Sa'id ibn al-A'si approached them on his mule, overlooking the people with al-Mughira ibn Shu'bah beside him. He dismounted and leaned on his black bow, then approached A'isha and said to her: "Where are you heading, O Mother of the Believers?" She replied: "I am heading to Basra." He asked: "What will you do in Basra?" She said: "I seek revenge for the blood of Uthman." He responded: "But these are the killers of Uthman with you." Then he turned to Marwan and said to him: "And you, where are you also heading?" He replied: "To Basra." He asked: "What will you do there?" Marwan said: "I seek the killers of Uthman." Al-Mughira said: "But these are the killers of Uthman with you. These two men, Talhah and al-Zubayr, killed Uthman," and they seek to take power for themselves. When they are overcome, they will say: "We will wash away blood with blood."
- .... Then al-Mughira ibn Shu'bah said: "O people, if you have only come out with your mother, it is better for you to return with her. But if you are angry for Uthman, your leaders killed Uthman. And if you have grievances against Ali, make clear what you grievances are."
