Hadith No: 11
Al-Suyuti - al-Durr al-Manthur fi al-Tafsir bil-Ma'thur
His statement, exalted be He: {And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33)

- .... Abd ibn Humayd and Ibn al-Mundhir narrated from Muhammad ibn Sirin, who said: I was informed that it was said to Sawda, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny),
"Why do you not perform Hajj or Umrah as your sisters do?" She replied, "I have performed Hajj and Umrah, and Allah commanded me to remain in my home, so by Allah, I will not leave my home until I die." He said, "By Allah, she did not leave the door of her chamber until she was taken out in her funeral."

from Masruq, who said: Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) would weep until her shawl was soaked whenever she recited: {And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).- .... Ahmad narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to his wives during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "This is then an appearance of restraint." He said that all of them would perform Hajj except Zainab bint Jahsh and Sawda bint Zam'a,
and they both said, "By Allah, no creature will move us after hearing that from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)."- .... Ibn Abi Hatim narrated
from Umm Na'ilah (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: Abu Barzah came and did not find Umm Wlad in the house, and they said, "She went to the mosque." When she returned, he called out to her, saying, "Indeed, Allah has forbidden women from going out and commanded them to remain in their homes, not to follow funerals, or visit a mosque, or witness a Friday prayer."- .... al-Tirmidhi and al-Bazzar narrated
from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "A woman is a private matter, and when she goes out, Satan seeks her out. She is closest to the mercy of her Lord when she is in the innermost part of her home."
