`Urwa also added, "None was mentioned as members of the slanderous group besides (`Abdullah) except Hassan bin Thabit and Mistah bin Uthatha and Hamna bint Jahsh along with others about whom I have no knowledge, but they were a group as Allah said. 25095 - Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, saying: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Sadiq ibn al-Musayyib, Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, Alqamah ibn Waqas, and Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah ibn Mas'ud informed me about the hadith of Aisha, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) .... And Urwah also said that none among the people of slander (Ifk) were named except: Hassan ibn Thabit, MusTahi ibn Uthathah, and Humna bint Juhash, along with some others whose identities are unknown to me, except that they were a group, as Allah, the Exalted, said, and although that was a serious matter, it was said to be happening at the hands of Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul.

- .... Aisha said:‏ And she was the one who would compete with me in the favor of the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) wives, and Allah safeguarded her with piety. And her sister, Hamnah bint Jahsh, began to fight for her, and she perished among those who perished. Ibn Shuhab said: This is what has reached us regarding these few people. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated this in their Sahihs from the hadith of Abu al-Fadl al-Zuhri, from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).

- .... And it is narrated from Ummara, from Aisha, who said: "May Allah have mercy on Zaynab! She attained in this world a dignity that no other dignity can match. Indeed, Allah married her, and the Quran spoke of it. And the Messenger of Allah said to us: 'The one of you who will be the quickest to join me will be the one with the longest hands.'" So he gave her glad tidings of her quick reunion with him, while she was his wife in Paradise." I said, "And her sister was Hamna bint Jahsh, who confronted Aisha in the story of ifk (slander)." Thus, she began to defend her sister Zaynab. As for Zaynab, Allah protected her with her piety, and Hamna was the wife of Abdur Rahman ibn Awf, and she had a migration.

2963 - As Ibrahim ibn Abi Dawud has Narrated to us, saying: Iyaash ibn al-Walid al-Ruqam narrated to us, from Abd al-Ala ibn Abd al-Ala al-Sami, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr narrated to me, from Umrah, the daughter of Abdur-Rahman, from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: When the Quran was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), he went out and sat on the pulpit, and recited to the people what Allah had revealed: {Indeed, those who came with the slander are a group among you. Do not think it bad for you; rather, it is good for you} (Surah an-Nur 24:11) and continued to {a great punishment} (Surah an-Nur 24:11). 6857 - Hamnah bint Jash‏‏ Her lineage has already been mentioned in relation to her brothers: Abdullah and Ubayd. Abu Nu'aym said: Hamnah bint Jash ibn Riyab was known by the kunya Umm Habibah. Ibn Mundhir said: Hamnah bint Jash, and it was said that her name was Habibah. Abu Umar commented: Hamnah bint Jash and her sister Umm Habibah bint Jash both experienced continuous menstruation (istihadah). Umm Habibah was the sister of Zaynab bint Jash, one of the Mothers of the Believers, and the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Hamnah was the wife of Mus'ab ibn Umair, who was killed on the day of Uhud, and she then married Talhah ibn Ubaydullah. She bore him two sons, Muhammad and 'Imran, both sons of Talhah. Their mother was Umaimah bint Abd al-Muttalib, the aunt of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and she was among those who spoke ill of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) in the incident of slander (ifk), doing so out of concern for her sister Zaynab. However, Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) did not say anything against her. Some said that she was flogged along with those who were flogged in this matter. Others said that no one was flogged. She was one of the Emigrants (Muhajirun) and witnessed the battle of Uhud, where she would give water to the thirsty, carry the wounded, and tend to them. She narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him), and her son 'Imran ibn Talhah narrated from her.

- .... And it is said that the punishment for false accusation is a right of a human being that is only fulfilled with his demand, even if it is said to be a right of Allah. However, the one accused must be summoned, and Aisha did not demand it from Ibn Abi. Rather, it is said that his punishment was left for a greater benefit than its establishment, just as his killing was overlooked despite the apparentness of his hypocrisy and his speaking in ways that warranted his death on multiple occasions. This was to avoid alienating his people and not to drive them away from Islam, for he was obeyed among them, a leader over them. Thus, the stirring of conflict in his punishment was not to be feared, and he may have been left for all these reasons. So, Mistah ibn Uthathah and Hasan ibn Thabit and Hammah bint Jash were flogged, and these were among the believing, truthful ones, purifying and atoning for them. And Abdullah ibn Ubay was left, so he is not among those deserving of that.

- .... Allah Almighty said: {Indeed, those who came forth with the slander are a group among you} (an-Nur 24:11). All the commentators unanimously agree that this verse and the ones related to it that follow were revealed regarding the story of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and the hadith of the slander. It is agreed that these verses, up to ten in total, were revealed in the narrative of Aisha. We mentioned the hadith of the slander in the book al-Hada'iq and in the book al-Mughni fi al-Tafsir, but we did not elaborate on it because our aim is to keep this book concise for memorization. As for "slander," it means falsehood, and "a group" refers to a community. The meaning of His words: {among you} (an-Nur 24:11) is that they are from the believers.
