4433 - Ibn Abi Shaiba said: Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, narrating from Mujalid, from Abu al-Wadaq from Abu Sa'id, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "If you see so-and-so giving a sermon on my pulpit, then kill him."

And it is narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "If you see Muawiya on my pulpit, then kill him," and he elaborated on this and commanded that it be proclaimed in the cities, and Muawiya be cursed from the pulpits. It was said to him: "This would be an overreach towards the Alawites, and they are always rising against the ruler, causing strife among the people." So he refrained from that.

Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Muawiya al-Nasibi narrated to us, saying: Sulayman ibn Ayyub Abu Umar al-Sarifini narrated to us, saying: Sufyan ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jud'aan, from Abu Nadrah from Abu Sa'id: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "When you see Muawiya on my pulpit, stone him."

Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Khuza'i narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Abu Nadrah from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "When you see Muawiya on these platforms, kill him," and a man from the Ansar stood up to him with a sword while he was addressing the people. Abu Sa'id said: What are you doing? He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, "When you see Muawiya speaking on the platforms, kill him." Abu Sa'id said to him: We have heard what you heard, but we dislike to unsheathe the sword during the reign of Umar until we consult him. So they wrote to Umar about this, and his death came before a response arrived.

- Umm al-Mujtabi, daughter of Naser, and Umm al-Bahaa, daughter of Muhammad, informed us, saying: My teachers were Abu Uthman Sa'id ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad, Abu Muhammad al-Mukhalladi, Abu Muhammad Zanjawiya ibn Muhammad al-Labbaad, Muhammad ibn Rafi, Muhammad ibn Bashar, Mujalid from Abu al-Wudak from Abu Sa'id, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "If you see so-and-so giving a sermon on my pulpit, kill him." This was narrated by Jundal ibn Waliq from Muhammad ibn Bashar, who named Mu'awiya.
- Abu al-Qasim ibn al-Samarqandi informed us, saying: Abu al-Qasim ibn Mus'adah, Hamza ibn Yusuf, Abu Ahmad ibn Adi, and Ali ibn al-Abbas, known as al-Muqana'i, were all my teachers. Ali ibn al-Mathani, al-Walid ibn al-Qasim, narrated to us from Mujalid from Abu al-Wudak from Abu Sa'id that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "If you see Mu'awiya on my pulpit, kill him."

- Al-Faqih Abu al-Hasan narrated to us verbally from Abd al-Aziz ibn Ahmad, who said: Al-Qadi Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Sakhr narrated to me by way of ijazah, saying: It has reached me that Abdullah ibn Abi Dawud said regarding the hadith narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): "If you see Muawiya on my pulpit, then kill him," meaning Muawiya ibn Tabuh, the head of the hypocrites, and he had sworn to urinate and defecate on his pulpit. Ibn Asakir said: And this is a far-fetched interpretation, and it has been narrated, so accept it with the letter "b," but it is questionable.
