Mua'wiyah kills Ammaar Ibn Yaasir

Hadith No: 1

Narrated `Ikrima:

Ibn `Abbas said to me and to his son `Ali, "Go to Abu Sa`id and listen to what he narrates." So we went and found him in a garden looking after it. He picked up his Rida', wore it and sat down and started narrating till the topic of the construction of the mosque reached. He said, "We were carrying one adobe at a time while `Ammar was carrying two. The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) saw him and started removing the dust from his body and said, "May Allah be Merciful to `Ammar. He will be inviting them (i.e. his murderers, the rebellious group) to Paradise and they will invite him to Hell-fire." `Ammar said, "I seek refuge with Allah from affliction."

When he saw them, he came up to them and sat down with his legs drawn up and wrapped in his garment and said, "(During the construction of the mosque of the Prophet) we carried the adobe of the mosque, one brick at a time while `Ammar used to carry two at a time. He said: "Look at the group that has Ibn Sumayyah in it and stick to them, for he will be turning with the Book of Allah." I said: Who is Ibn Sumayyah? He replied: "Do you not know him?" I said: "Please clarify him to me." 5710 - Ibn Umar said: Abdullah ibn al-Harith narrated to me, from his father, from Umariyyah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thabit, who said: Khuzaymah ibn Thabit witnessed the Battle of the Camel (al-Jamal) without drawing a sword, and he also witnessed the Battle of Siffin. He said: "I will never be misled by the killing of Ammar," and he looked to see who would kill him, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'The rebellious group (al-fi'ah al-baghiyah) will kill you.' When Ammar was killed, Khuzaymah said: "Misguidance has now come upon him," and he moved closer. The one who killed Ammar was Abu Ghadiah al-Mazani, who stabbed him with a spear, and he fell. He fought until he was killed, and he was then ninety-four years old. When he fell, another man jumped on him and severed his head, and they both began to argue, each claiming, "I killed him." Amr ibn al-As said: "By Allah, they are only arguing to do so in the Fire." And Amr added: "It is, by Allah, that," and "By Allah, you know it," and "I wish I had died before this."

He said: "Turn with the Book of Allah wherever it turns and look at the faction that has ibn Sumayyah in it, and follow it, for he will turn with the Book of Allah wherever it turns." We said to him, "Who is ibn Sumayyah?" He replied, "Ummar." I heard Rasulullah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say to him, "You will not die until the oppressive faction kills you," drinking a drink of humiliation, which will be your last sustenance from this world." This is a sound and elevated hadith, and they did not narrate it.
