Mu'awiyah and al-Aas sang and the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) cursed them

Hadith No: 1
What is the fame and status of these two companions that most narrators would go to such lengths to conceal their true names, calling them such-and-such or two men?!
Ahmad ibn Hanbal - Musnad al-Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal
The First Musnad of the Basrians - Hadith of Abu Barzah al-Aslami (r)
Volume: (4) - Page Number: (421)
19281 - Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us, and I heard it myself from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah, who said: Muhammad ibn Fadhl narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Sulayman ibn Amr ibn al-Ahwas, who said: The Lord of this house, Abu Hilal, told me, saying: Did you hear Abu Barzah? He said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) on a journey when he heard two men singing, one responding to the other, and he was saying:
"Still, my disciple's bones will be seen, * gathered by the trials of war from him, that he may go mad and be buried."
Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'Look who they are.' They replied: 'Such-and-such and such-and-such.' Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'O Allah, reverse them both and leave them to the Fire.'"

13311 - And from Abu Barzah who said: We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) on a journey when he heard two men singing, one responding to the other, and he was saying:
"My disciple will not cease to be seen, his bones visible, *
the remnants of war have prevented him from going mad and being buried."
The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'Look who they are.' They said, 'So-and-so and so-and-so.' The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) then said: 'O Allah, cause them to stumble and leave them to the Fire.' Ahmad and al-Bazzar narrated this, and al-Bazzar said: He looked at two men on the Day of Uhud embodying this poetry in a chamber, and Abu Ya'la narrated something similar, with reference to Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, and most scholars regard him as weak.

"His disciples will continue to appear, their bones visible,
* Though the ravages of war prevent him from going mad and finding a grave."

He then said: "O Allah, cast them both into the Fire in the trial, a cast, and leave them to the Fire of Hell." This was narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat, and there were a group in it whose identities I do not know.

Ibn al-Jawzi criticizes him, although he is one of the narrators of Muslim, and he has (176) narrations in the six books
Ibn al-Jawzi - al-Mawdu'at - Book of Virtues and Vices
Volume: (2) - Page Number: (28)
- The third narration disparaging him and Umar ibn al-Aas: Abu Mansur ibn Khayrun narrated to us, saying: Al-Jawhari narrated to us from al-Darqutni, from Abu Hatim al-Bashti, who said: My father Yahya narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us, from Ibn Fadl, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Sulayman ibn Amr ibn al-Ahwasi, from Abu Barzah, who said: We were with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when he heard the sound of singing and said: "Look at what this is." So I climbed up and saw that it was Muawiya and Amr ibn al-Aas singing." So I went and informed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He said: "O Allah, plunge them both into temptation!" O Allah, leave them to the Fire!" This is a hadith that is not authentic, and Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad was being prompted in the last years of his life, and Ali said that Yahya did not consider his narrations reliable. Ibn Mubarak said: "Throw him aside," and Ibn Adi stated: "None of his narrations are supported."
