17322 - عفان narrated to us, who said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, who said: Abu Hafs and Kulthum ibn Jubayr informed us, from Abu Ghadiyah, who said: "Ammar ibn Yasir was killed, and Amr ibn al-As was informed. He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: The one who kills him and the one who robs him are in the Fire.'" It was said to Amr: 'But you are fighting him.' He replied: 'He only said the one who kills him and the one who robs him.'

So it was said to Amr, "But you are now fighting him." He replied: "He only said the killer and the one who strips him."

- Al-Iffan said: Hammad narrated to us, from Kulthum ibn Jubayr, from Abu al-Ghadiah, who said: I heard Ammar speaking ill of Uthman and insulting him, and I threatened him with death. When the day of Siffin came, Ammar began to charge at the people, and it was said, "This is Ammar." So I stabbed him in the knee, and he fell and I killed him. It was said, "Ammar is killed," and Amr ibn al-As was informed. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'The one who kills him and the one who strips him is in the Fire.'"

And Hamad ibn Salamah said: Abu Hafs Kulthum ibn Jabr narrated to us from Abu Ghadiyah al-Juhani, who said: I heard Ammar ibn Yasir speaking ill of Uthman and insulting him in Medina, and I threatened him with death. Then, when the day of Siffin came, he kept charging at the people, so I charged at him and stabbed him in the knee, and he fell. I killed him, completing the narration. It was said: Ammar has been killed. And Amr ibn al-As was informed, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "The killer of Ammar and the one who deprives him of his belongings is in Hell."

He said: Affan ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, saying: Abu Hafs and Kulthum ibn Jabr narrated to us from Abu Ghadiyyah, who said: I heard Ammar ibn Yasir speaking ill of Uthman and insulting him in Medina. So I threatened him with death, saying, "If Allah enables me to overpower you, I will surely act." When the day of Siffin came, Ammar began to charge at the people, and it was said, "This is Ammar." I saw a gap between the shoulders and the legs. So I charged at him and stabbed him in the knee. He fell, and I killed him. It was said, "You have killed Ammar ibn Yasir." And 'Amr ibn al-'As was informed. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'The one who fights him and strips him of his armor is in the Fire.'" It was said to 'Amr ibn al-'As, "That is you, fighting him." He replied, "He only said, 'The one who fights him and strips him of his armor.'"

- .... Ahmad and Ibn Sa'd narrated it from Uffan, and Ahmad added from Abd al-Samad ibn Abd al-Warith, both of whom reported it from Rabi'ah. In Uffan's narration, I heard Ammar speaking negatively about Uthman in Medina, and I threatened him with death, saying: "If Allah gives me power over you, I will act." When the day of Siffin came, he began to charge at the people. It was said, "This is Ammar," and I stabbed him in the knee. He fell and I killed him." Amr ibn al-As was informed, and he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'The killer of Ammar and the one who strips him is in the Fire.'" Amr ibn al-As was asked, "How can you fight him?" He replied, "He only said, 'Kill him and strip him.'"

It was said to 'Amr ibn al-'As, "Then you are his killer." He replied: "He only said, 'The one who fights him and robs him.'"
