- Abu Bakr al-Hasib narrated to us, saying: Abu Muhammad al-Shirazi narrated to me, saying: Abu Umar narrated to me, saying: Ahmad narrated to us, saying: al-Husayin narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Sa'd narrated to me, from Affan ibn Muslim, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Abu Hafs and Kalthum ibn Jubayr, from Abi al-Ghadijah, who said: I heard Ammar ibn Yasir speaking ill of Uthman, insulting him in Medina. So I threatened him with death, saying: "If Allah grants me power over you, I will surely act." When the day of Siffin came, Ammar began to charge at the people, and it was said, "This is Ammar." I saw a gap between the shoulders and between the legs. So I charged at him and stabbed him in the knee. He fell, and I killed him. It was said:
"Ammar ibn Yasir has been killed." And 'Amr ibn al-'As was informed, and he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, 'The one who fights him and robs him is in the Fire.'" It was said to 'Amr ibn al-'As, "Then you are his killer." He replied: "He only said, 'The one who fights him and robs him.'"
