Hadith No: 1

Narrated Abu Huraira:

"The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said, 'The best alms is that which is given when one is rich, and a giving hand is better than a taking one, and you should start first to support your dependents.' A wife says, 'You should either provide me with food or divorce me.' A slave says, 'Give me food and enjoy my service." A son says, "Give me food; to whom do you leave me?" The people said, "O Abu Huraira! Did you hear that from Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) ?" He said, "No, it is from my own self."

- .... His statement: (The best charity is that which one gives when one is financially independent): .... He supported what he understood by citing a narration reported by al-Daraqutni through the route of Asim from Abu Salih, from Abu Huraira, from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), who said: A woman says to her husband, "Feed me," and there is no evidence in it because there is something in Asim's preservation, and the correct view is to provide a detailed explanation. This was also noted by al-Isma'ili through the route of Abu Mu'awiya from al-A'mash with the same chain as the hadith of the chapter. Abu Huraira said: Your wife will say, "Feed me," and this is similar to his statement at the end of the hadith of the chapter, "No, this is from the pouch of Abu Huraira."
- And it was mentioned in the narration of al-Isma'ili that they said: "O Abu Huraira, is this something you say from your own opinion or from the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?" He replied: "This is from my pouch," and his statement, "from my pouch," is with the 'kaf' in the genitive case (with a possessive ending)."

They said, "O Abu Huraira, is this something the Messenger of Allah said, or is it from your own mind?" He replied, "Rather, this is from my own mind."

- .... Evidence for this is what we narrated through the chain of al-Bukhari, who said: 'Umar ibn Hafs ibn Ghayath narrated to us, my father narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to me, from Abu Huraira, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "The best form of charity is that which is given when one is neither rich nor poor, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand. Start with those you are responsible for." A woman may say, "Either you feed me, or you divorce me,"' and he mentioned the rest of the narration. They said, "O Abu Huraira, did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?" He replied, "No, this is from the pocket of Abu Huraira," and thus, the validity of using this narration as evidence was weakened.
