Those Named Yazid - 1050: Yazid ibn Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan al-Umayyi

1050 - Yazid ibn Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan al-Umayyi: He narrated from his father, and his son Khalid and Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan narrated from him.
He is considered to have a deficiency in his justice, and he is not deemed fit to narrate from. Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: It is not appropriate for him to narrate from... Then the people of Medina deposed Yazid in the year sixty-three, so Muslim ibn Uqba al-Mari was sent to them with a large army and fought them. He defeated them and killed many of them, including a large number of the companions and their sons, and he outpaced the elders of the Tabi'un and their men of distinction. He pillaged and killed in the city for three days, then he took an oath of allegiance from those who remained that they were slaves to Yazid, and whoever refused was killed. He then set out for Mecca to fight Ibn al-Zubayr but died on the way, appointing al-Husayn ibn Numayr as his successor. Al-Husayn then marched the army to Mecca, besieged Ibn al-Zubayr, and set up siege engines on the Kaaba, which weakened its corners and then burned. In the midst of this, news of Yazid's death arrived....
