- .... And what is narrated is that Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) was massaging himself with dardi of wine in the bath, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) denied this action, even cursing him from the pulpit when he heard of it. It is not permissible for anyone to act upon this after Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) denied it, and even if someone were to drink from it and not become intoxicated, there is no punishment on him in our view. Al-Shafi'i (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he would be subject to punishment, because a punishment is warranted for drinking a drop of wine, and there are drops of wine in dardi.
