Volume: (9) - Page Number: (346)
18738 - Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Muqri narrated to us, telling us: al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Yusuf ibn Yaqub narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Bishar narrated to us, saying: Sufyan
from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from someone who heard ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "I entered upon Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was turning his hand like this, and I said to him: 'What is the matter with you, O Commander of the Faithful?' He said: 'An incident has occurred to us in Iraq where someone mixed the prices of wine and pigs in the spoils of the Muslims.'" Did you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "May Allah curse the Jews; it was forbidden for them to eat animal fats, but they made them into products and sold them, eating the prices"? Sufyan said: He means to say do not take wine or pigs in their jizyah, but leave them to sell them. When they sell them, then take the prices in their jizyah.
