- .... Allah the Almighty said: {O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with a report, investigate, lest you harm a people in ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful (Al-Hujurat 49:6)}. Abdullah ibn Muhammad said: Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, from Abdal-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding Allah's statement: {O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with a report, investigate, lest you harm a people in ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful (Al-Hujurat 49:6)} who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent al-Walid ibn Uqbah to Banu al-Mustalaq, and al-Walid went to them. They came out to meet him, but he became afraid and returned to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), saying: They have reverted. So the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent Khalid ibn al-Walid, and when he drew near to them, he sent spies at night, and they were found to be giving the Adhan and praying. Khalid then went to them and saw nothing but obedience and good among them, so he returned to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and informed him.
