1304 - Abdullah narrated to us, who said: Nasr ibn Ali and Ubaydullah ibn Umar both narrated to me, saying: Abdullah ibn Dawud narrated to us, from Nu'aym ibn Hakim, from Abu Maryam, from Ali (ra), that a woman came to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and said: "O Messenger of Allah, indeed, al-Walid is beating her." Nasr ibn Ali said in his narration that she was complaining about him. He said: "Tell him that he has granted me refuge." Ali (ra) said: It was not long before she returned and said: "He only increased me in beating." So he took a corner of his garment and handed it to her, saying: "Tell him that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) has granted me refuge." It was not long before she returned and said: "He only increased me in beating." He raised his hands and said: "O Allah, deal with al-Walid; he is brazenly defying me twice." And this is the wording of the hadith narrated by al-Quwariri, and their meanings are the same.

Nasr ibn Ali mentioned in his narration that she was complaining to him. He said, "Tell him that he has granted me refuge." Ali said, "But she did not remain long before she returned and said, 'He has done nothing to me except hit me more.'" So he took a corner of his garment and handed it to her, saying, "Tell him that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) has granted me refuge." She did not stay away long before she returned and said, "He has done nothing to me except attack me more." He raised his hands and said, "O Allah, deal with al-Walid! He is acting against me twice."

He said: Tell him that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) has granted me protection. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) tore off a piece from his garment and handed it to her, saying: Tell him this is a piece from his garment, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) has granted me protection. She did not stay away long before she returned and said: He has only increased me in beating.
