- .... Ibn Ishaq said: Hind bint Utbah, as narrated to me by Salih ibn Kaysan, and the women with her, were acting out on the corpses of the slain from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), mutilating their bodies by removing their ears and noses, until Hind made from the ears and noses of the men ear-servants and necklaces. She gave her ear-servants and necklaces and her ear-piercings to a young man, Wahshi, the slave of Jubayr ibn Mut'im, and she took out Hamzah's liver and tried to swallow it, but could not, so she spat it out. Then she climbed onto an overseeing rock and screamed at the top of her voice, saying:
"We have repaid you for the Day of Badr, and battle after battle is one of rising price.
There was no patience in me, nor in my brother, my uncle, or my kin.
My soul is fulfilled, my vow is complete; I am healed, and the rage in my heart is quenched.
Wahshi will be thanked by me for my life, until my bones decay in my grave."

- .... And the women of the polytheists, Hind and her companions, would strike the faces and ears of the Muslims, and they would rip open their bellies, and Hind ripped open the belly of Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) and removed his heart, chewing on it, but she could not swallow it, so she spat it out. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "If it had entered her belly, fire would not have touched her." When the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) witnessed this, his grief for him intensified, and he said: "By God, if I get hold of them, I will surely mutilate seventy of them." Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed: {And if you punish [an enemy, O believers, punish only] with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient, it is better for those who are patient} (Surah an-Nahl 16:126) ....

- .... Ibn Jurayj said: The disbelievers on the day of Uhud treated the slain Muslims as they would all except for Hanthalah ibn al-Rahib, because Abu 'Umar al-Rahib was with Abu Sufyan on that day, so they left Hanthalah alone for that reason. And Kathir ibn Zayd said from al-Mutalib ibn Hantab: On the day of Uhud, Hind bint 'Utbah and the women with her would strike at the faces of the Muslims, pierce their bellies, and cut off their ears, except for Hanthalah, for his father was with the polytheists. Hind also sliced open Hamza's belly and removed his liver, gnawing on it before spitting it out. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "If it had entered her belly, she would not have entered the Fire." He added that no one was mutilated as Hamza was; Hind cut off his hand, amputated his nose, severed his ears, and opened his abdomen. When the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) saw this, he said: "If I overcome the Quraysh, I will certainly mutilate thirty of them." Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed: {And if you punish [an enemy, O believers] punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you be patient, it is better for those who are patient} (Surah an-Nahl 16:126).

And Hind and the women with her began to perform acts of disdain on the slain of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), cutting off their ears and noses until Hind made necklaces from the ears and noses of the Muslims. She gave her servitors and necklaces and her earring to a youth, a foster son of Jubayr ibn Mat'im, and she desecrated the liver of Hamzah, chewing it, but she could not swallow it, so she spat it out. Then she climbed onto an overseeing rock and screamed at the top of her lungs in a poem what she said when they triumphed in what they had done to the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny).
