3586 - My father narrated to me, he said: Mu'mal ibn Isma'il narrated to us, saying: I heard Hammad ibn Salamah say, mentioning Abu Hanifah, and he said: "Indeed, Abu Hanifah confronted the reports and the Sunnahs, rejecting them based on his opinion."
3587 - My father narrated to me, he said: Mu'mal narrated to us, saying: I heard Sufyan al-Thawri say: "Abu Hanifah was brought to repentance (isti'taabah) twice."
3588 - My father narrated to me, he said: I heard Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah say: "Abu Hanifah was brought to repentance (isti'taabah) twice," and Abu Zayd, meaning Hammad ibn Dalil, a man from Sufyan's companions, said to Sufyan: "For what?" Sufyan replied: "He spoke words, and his companions saw that it would be best to bring him to repentance, so he repented."

3598 - Al-Hasan ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Jurawi al-Judhami narrated to me, who said: Abu Hafs Amr ibn Abi Salamah al-Tinisi said: I heard al-Awza'i say, "No one was born in Islam who was more damaging to Islam than Abu Hanifah and Abu Muslim who cried out."
3590 - My father narrated to me, who said: Mu'mal ibn Isma'il narrated to us, who said: Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to me, from Ibad ibn Kathir, who said: Amr ibn Ubayd said to me, "Ask Abu Hanifah about a man who says, 'I know that the Ka'bah is true and that it is the House of Allah, but I do not know whether it is the one in Mecca or the one in Khurasan.' Is he a believer?" He said, 'A believer.'" He also said to me, "Ask him about a man who says, 'I know that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is true and that he is the Messenger of Allah, but I do not know whether he is the one who was in Medina or another Muhammad.' Is he a believer?" He said, 'A believer.'"
3591 - My father said: They should have sought his repentance, I think, regarding this verse: {Glory be to Your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they describe} (as-Saffat 37:180). He said, "He is a created being."

3592 - Abu Ma'mar narrated to me from al-Walid ibn Muslim, who said: Malik ibn Anas said to me: "Is Abu Hanifa mentioned in your town?" I replied, "Yes." He said: "It is not right for your town to be at peace."
3593 - Mansur ibn Abi Muzahim narrated to us, who said: I heard Sharik say: "It would be better for there to be a tavern in every quarter of Kufa than for there to be someone in it who advocates the opinion of Abu Hanifa."
3594 - Mansur said: I heard Malik ibn Anas mention Abu Hanifa and he said: "He is the ruin of religion."
