Abdullah (al hemaar)

Hadith No: 1

Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab:

During the lifetime of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) there was a man called `Abdullah whose nickname was Donkey, and he used to make Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) laugh. The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) lashed him because of drinking (alcohol). And one-day he was brought to the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) on the same charge and was lashed. On that, a man among the people said, "O Allah, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) on such a charge)!" The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said, "Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know for he loves Allah and His Apostle."

6777 - His statement: (The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was brought a man who had drunk): In the narration in the chapter that follows, it states: "a drunken man," and this man might be interpreted as Abdullah, who was nicknamed al-Himar," mentioned in the chapter after that in the hadith of Umar. It could also be interpreted as the son of al-Nu'man. The former is closer, as in his story, it is said that a man from the group said, "O Allah, curse him," and something similar occurs in the story mentioned in the hadith of Abu Huraira, but his wording is: Some of the people said, "May God humiliate you...."
6777 - And Abd al-Razzaq has, with a sound chain, from Ubayd ibn Umayr, one of the senior Tabi'un: "Those who drank wine during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), Abu Bakr, and part of Umar's leadership would be beaten by their hands and slippers, and they would be struck."
6777 - His statement: (Some of the people said): In the upcoming narration, it will state: A man said, and this man is Umar ibn al-Khattab. If this story is identical to the hadith of Umar in the story of al-Himar, as I will explain.

Volume: (1) - Page Number: (526/527)
1243: Himar ending with a Ra' (ر) ibn Ma'kulah said: Himar, a man among the Companions, named Abdullah. Zayd ibn Aslam narrated this from his father, from Umar ibn al-Khattab (may he be pleased with him). Abu al-Fadl al-Manzur ibn Abi al-Hasan ibn Abi Abdullah al-Makhzumi informed us, with his chain of narration to Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna, who said: Muhammad ibn Numayr narrated to us, from my father, who said: Hisham ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from Umar: that there was a man who was nicknamed Himar, and he would be gifted to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) a jug of clarified butter and a jug of honey. When his owner came to collect it, he would bring it to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and say: O Messenger of Allah, give this its due price. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would not do more than smile and order it to be given. One day, he was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) after having drunk alcohol, and a man said: O Allah, curse him! How often he is brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)! The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger.

Chapter on the letters 'Ayn and 'Ba' - 2902: Abdullah nicknamed al-Himar
Volume: (3) - Page Number: (112)
2902 - Abdullah: nicknamed al-Himar, was a man known for his humor who would make the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) laugh and would bring him gifts. Musmar ibn Umar ibn al-Awais and several others reported to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Isma'il, Abu Abdullah, informed us, saying: Yahya ibn Bukayr narrated to me, from al-Layth, who said: Khalid ibn Yazid narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Abi Hilal, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): that there was a man during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) named Abdullah, who was nicknamed al-Himar, and he would make the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) laugh, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would sometimes punish him for drinking. One day, he was brought before the Prophet, and he ordered him to be punished. A man from the crowd said: "O Allah, curse him! How often he is brought before the Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied: "Do not curse him, for by Allah, I only know that he loves Allah and His Messenger." Ibn Mundhir and Abu Nu'aym narrated this.
