Himar ending with a Ra' (ر) ibn Ma'kulah said:
Himar, a man among the Companions, named Abdullah. Zayd ibn Aslam narrated this from his father, from Umar ibn al-Khattab (may he be pleased with him). Abu al-Fadl al-Manzur ibn Abi al-Hasan ibn Abi Abdullah al-Makhzumi informed us, with his chain of narration to Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna, who said: Muhammad ibn Numayr narrated to us, from my father, who said: Hisham ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from Umar:
that there was a man who was nicknamed Himar, and he would be gifted to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) a jug of clarified butter and a jug of honey. When his owner came to collect it, he would bring it to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and say: O Messenger of Allah, give this its due price. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would not do more than smile and order it to be given. One day, he was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)
after having drunk alcohol, and a man said: O Allah, curse him! How often he is brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)! The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger.
