- .... Abdul Razzaq narrated from Abu Huraira that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "If they drink, then punish them," and he said it three times. "But if they drink the fourth time, then kill them." Al-Mu'ammar said: I mentioned this to Ibn al-Munkadir, and he said: "The killing has been forgone. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was presented with Ibn al-Nu'man, and he punished him. Then he was brought again and punished, then again and punished, and then again and punished, the fourth time or more."
- .... Abdul Razzaq narrated from Amr ibn Dinar that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Whoever drinks intoxicants, then administer the legal punishment to him. If he drinks a second time, administer the legal punishment to him. If he drinks a third time, administer the legal punishment to him. If he drinks a fourth time, kill him." He said: Ibn al-Nu'man was brought, having drunk, and he was beaten with sandals and hands. Then he was brought a second time, and similarly, then a fourth time, and he was given the legal punishment, and the killing was set aside.
