Hadith No: 1
Al-San'ani - al-Musannaf - Book of Divorce - Chapter on the Punishment for Wine

13549 - Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, saying: Ma'mar narrated to us, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Huraira, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Whoever drinks wine, flog him. Then if he drinks again, flog him. Then if he drinks again, kill him." Ibn al-Munkadir said: This was left off later." It was reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was presented with Ibn al-Nu'man, and he flogged him. Then he was brought again, and he flogged him. Then he was brought again, and he flogged him. Then he was brought a fourth time, and he flogged him, but did not increase the punishment beyond that.

13550 - Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, saying: Al-Thawri narrated to us, from Asim ibn Abi al-Najud, from Dhakwaan, from Muawiya, that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said regarding a drinker of alcohol: "If he drinks alcohol, then lash him. Then if he drinks again, lash him. Then if he drinks again, lash him. And if he drinks the fourth time, strike off his neck." Al-Thawri said: Our companions narrated to us from al-Zuhri that Ibn al-Na'mayn was struck four times and the death penalty was lifted.

13552 - Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, saying: Ma'mar narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: Ibn al-Nu'man was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) repeatedly, more than four times, and he was flogged each time. Then a man said in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): "O Allah, curse him! How much he drinks and how often he is flogged!" The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied: "Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger."

17081 - Abd al-Razzaq from Ma'mar from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih from his father from Abu Huraira: That the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "If they drink, then flog them." He repeated this three times, then said: "If they drink a fourth time, kill them." Ma'mar said: I mentioned this to Ibn al-Munkadir, and he replied: "He has left off the killing." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was presented with Ibn al-Nu'man, and he flogged him. Then he was brought to him again, and he flogged him. Then he was brought to him again, and he flogged him. Then he was brought to him a fourth time, and he flogged him, or more.

17082 - Abd al-Razzaq from Ma'mar from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: "I was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and he flogged me, then I was brought again and he flogged me. He did this repeatedly, four or five times. Then a man said, 'O Allah, curse him! How much he drinks and how much he is punished!' The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, 'Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger.'"

17085 - Abd al-Razzaq from Ibn Jurayj from Amr ibn Dinar: that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, punish him. If he drinks it a second time, punish him. If he drinks it a third time, punish him. If he drinks it a fourth time, kill him." He said, then Ibn al-Nu'man was brought to him after drinking, and he was struck with shoes and hands. Then he was brought a second time, and it was the same. Then he was brought a third time, and it was the same. Then he was brought a fourth time, and he was punished, and the death penalty was set aside.
