- Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Ruh ibn Ubadah narrated to us from Salih ibn Abi al-Akhdar, from al-Zuhri, and Ayub narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah from Uqbah ibn al-Harith, who said: "Nu'ayman was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while he was drunk."
- Abu al-Qasim ibn al-Husayn also narrated to us, saying: Abu Ali narrated to us, saying: Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated to me that my father narrated to him, saying: Sulayman ibn Harb and Ufan both said: Wahib ibn Khalid narrated to us, and Ufan said in his narration: Ayub narrated to us from Abdullah ibn Abi Mulaykah from Uqbah ibn al-Harith that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was brought Nu'man or ibn Nu'ayman while he was drunk. Uqbah continued: "This distressed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he commanded those in the house to strike him." Uqbah added: "It was a severe distress for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and I was among those who struck him."
- Abu al-Qasim narrated to us again, saying: Abu Ali narrated to us, saying: Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Abdullah narrated to me that my father narrated to him, saying: Abdul-Samad narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Ayub narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah that Uqbah ibn al-Harith said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was approached by Nu'ayman, who had drunk wine, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) commanded those in the house to strike him with hands, branches, and sandals."
- Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abd al-Baqi narrated to us, saying: Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Ali narrated to us, saying: Abu Umar ibn Hayyuwiya narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, saying: al-Husayn ibn Fahm narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Sa'd narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Humayd al-Abdi narrated to us from Ma'mar ibn Rashid from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: "Nu'ayman or ibn Nu'ayman was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he was flogged. Then he was brought again and flogged, and then he was brought a third time and commanded to be flogged, he said: "Repeatedly, four or five times," indicating this in relation to drinking nabidh." A man then said: "O Allah, curse him! How much he drinks and how often he is flogged!" The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger."
- Abu al-Fath Yusuf ibn Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, saying: Shuja' ibn Ali narrated to me, saying: Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Mundah narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Abdah narrated to us, saying: Abu Abd al-Rahman ibn Shu'ayb al-Nasa'i narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Wahb ibn Abi Karima narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to Abi Abd al-Rahim, who told me that a man from Thaqif from Kathir ibn Marwan al-Sulami, from his father Marwan ibn Qays, from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), said: "The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) passed by a drunken man named Nu'ayman and commanded him to be struck. He was brought again, drunken, and commanded to be struck, then brought a third time and commanded to be struck, and then brought a fourth time, still in his presence." Umar said: "What are we waiting for with him, O Prophet of Allah? This is the fourth time; strike off his neck!" A man said at that moment: "I saw him on the day of Badr fighting fiercely." Another said: "I saw him having a good stance on the day of Badr." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied: "How can it be, when he witnessed Badr?"

- Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali and Abu al-Qasim Isma'il ibn Ahmad ibn Umar and Abu al-Dar Yaqut ibn Abdullah informed us, saying: Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Abbas narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us, saying: al-Zubayr ibn Bakkar narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Muqdad, who said: from Yaqub ibn Ja'far ibn Abi Kathir, who said: from Abu Tawalah Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Ansari from Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm, from his father, who said: There was a man in Medina named Nu'ayman who would partake of intoxicating drinks, and he would be brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), who would strike him with his sandals and instruct his companions to strike him in turn and sprinkle dust on him. When this became frequent with him, a man from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to him, "May Allah curse you!" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied, "Do not do that, for he loves Allah, the Exalted, and His Messenger (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)."

- Abu al-Barakat al-Anmati narrated to us, saying: Thabit ibn Bundar narrated to me, saying: Abu al-'Alaa al-Wasiti narrated to me, saying: Abu Bakr al-Babsiri narrated to me, saying: al-Ahwas ibn al-Mufaddal ibn Ghassan narrated to me, from my father, from Imran ibn Aban, from Sulayman ibn Bilal, who told me: Abu al-Zinad informed me, saying: Khareejah ibn Zayd ibn Thabit said: Na'imaan was killed while he was drunk, by 'Imarah ibn Zayd ibn Thabit. My father said: Musab stated that this is an error; it is, rather, Ammar ibn Yazid ibn Thabit. Na'imaan had companionship with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) used to take him lightly and jest with him, and he even flogged him for being drunk.
