3286 - Sa'id ibn Uthman al-Ansari witnessed the Battle of Uhud. Ibn Rahuyah narrated in his Musnad from the route of al-Zubayr, who said: "By Allah, I can hear the words of Mu'tab ibn Qushayr while drowsiness is overwhelming me: 'If we had any say in this matter, we would not have been killed here' (referring to the situation in Al-i Imran)." Then he continued, mentioning his words: {Indeed, those who turned back among you on the day the two gatherings met were compelled by Satan due to some of what they had earned, and Allah had surely pardoned them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing} (Surah Al-i Imran 3:155). He said, "Among them were Uthman ibn Affan, Sa'id ibn Uthman, and the Ansaris Alqamah and Uthman." He added that they reached a hill in the vicinity of Medina, in the valley of al-A'ws, and stayed there for three days. Ibn Ishaq summarized this in his Musnad with his interpolation and from his statement onward is a continuation of Ibn Ishaq's words in Al-Maghazi.
