- Sa'id ibn Uthman al-Ansari al-Zurqi, the brother of Uqbah, narrated that Muhammad ibn Ishaq reported from Yahya ibn Ubad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, from his father, from Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, from al-Zubayr, who said: "By Allah, I could hear the words of Mu'tab ibn Qusayr, my brother from the sons of Amr ibn Awf, while drowsiness was overcoming me. I could hear him only like in a dream when he said: 'If we had any say in the matter, we would not be killed here.'" Then he said: {“Indeed, those who turned back among you on the day the two armies met, it was only Satan who caused them to slip with some of what they had earned, and Allah had certainly pardoned them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing”} (Surah Al-Imran 3:155). So, those whom Satan caused to slip, and then Allah forgave, include: Uthman ibn Affan, Sa'id ibn Uthman, and Alqamah ibn Uthman.
