- Sa'id ibn Uthman al-Ansari al-Zurqi, brother of Uqbah, narrated that Muhammad ibn Ishaq reported from Yahya ibn Ibad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Zubair, from his father, from Abdullah ibn al-Zubair, from al-Zubair, who said: "By Allah, I truly heard the words of Mu'tab ibn Qusair, my brother from the clan of Banu Umr ibn Awf, while drowsiness was overcoming me, and I could not hear him except as in a dream, when he said: 'If we had any say in the matter, we would not be killed here.'" Then he recited: {Indeed, those who turned back among you on the day the two armies met, it was Satan who caused them to slip because of some of what they had earned, and Allah had certainly forgiven them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing} (Al Imran 3:155)
"So those whom Satan caused to slip and then Allah forgave are: Uthman ibn Affan, Sa'id ibn Uthman, and Alqamah ibn Uthman."
