May Allah curse on the person who do not join army of osama

Hadith No: 1

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:

Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) sent troops appointed Usama bin Zaid as their commander. The people criticized his leadership. Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) got up and said, "If you (people) are criticizing his (i.e. Usama's) leadership you used to criticize the leadership of his father before. By Allah, he (i.e. Zaid) deserved the leadership indeed, and he used to be one of the most beloved persons to me, and now this (i.e. his son, Usama) is one of the most beloved persons to me after him."

Ibn 'Umar reported that Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) sent an expedition and appointed Usama b. Zaid as its chief. The people objected to his command, whereupon Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) stood up and said:

You object to his command and before this you objected to the command of his father (Zaid). By Allah, he was fit as the commander and he was one of the dearest of persons to me and after him, behold! this one (Usama) is one of the dearest of persons to me.

- His statement: (Chapter on the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sending of Usamah ibn Zayd during his illness in which he passed away): .... And among those who were appointed with Usamah were many of the senior migrants and helpers, including Abu Bakr, Umar, Abu Ubaydah, Sa'd, Sa'id, Qatadah ibn al-Numan, and Salamah ibn Aslam. Some people spoke about this, including Uyayesh ibn Abi Ruba'iah al-Makhzumi, to whom Umar responded, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was informed. He then addressed the people with what is mentioned in this hadith.

Those Named Usama - 391: Usama ibn Zayd ibn Harithah ibn Sharahil al-Kalbi
Volume: (1) - Page Number: (208)
391 - Usama ibn Zayd ibn Harithah ibn Sharahil al-Kalbi, Abu Muhammad, and he is also called Abu Zayd, and other names are mentioned. His nickname was al-Hubb ibn al-Hubb, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and his mother was Umm Ayman, the caregiver of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), from his father, and from Umm Salamah. His sons, al-Hasan and Muhammad, and Ibn Abbas, Abu Huraira, Kharib, Abu Uthman al-Nahdi, Amr ibn Uthman ibn Affan, Abu Wa'il, Amir ibn Sa'd, Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, and al-Hasan al-Basri narrated from him, though there is some disagreement about this, as well as al-Zubayqan ibn Amr ibn Umayyah al-Damri, although it is said that he did not meet him. A group of people was appointed by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to a military expedition that included Abu Bakr and Umar, but it did not set out until the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) passed away. Abu Bakr then sent him to Syria.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) sent and army and put Usamah bin Zaid in charge of them. So the people contested his leadership, so the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said: 'If you contest his leadership, then you did contest the leadership of his father before him. And indeed, by Allah, he was certainly fit for leadership, and he was of the most beloved of people to me, and this one is among the most beloved of people to me after him.'"

- .... Al-Bukhari said: Narrative chain (isnad) narrated to us by Isma'il, who said: Malik narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Dinar, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent a military expedition and appointed Usama ibn Zayd as their leader. People criticized his leadership, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up and said: "If you criticize his leadership, you have been criticizing his father's leadership before. By God, he is indeed worthy of leadership and was one of the most beloved people to me. And this one is among the most beloved people to me after him." And Al-Tirmidhi narrated it from the hadith of Malik, saying: A صحيح حسن (authentic and good) hadith. Many of the notable individuals among the early emigrants (Muhajirin) and the Ansar were appointed in his army, with Umar ibn al-Khattab being one of the largest among them. Those who say that Abu Bakr was among them are mistaken. For the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) became seriously ill, and the army of Usama was encamped at the Jurf. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had instructed Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer, as will be mentioned, so how could he be in the army while being the Imam of the Muslims by the permission of the Messenger, from the Lord of the Worlds?

- .... And he died while commanding a large army of them, including Umar ibn al-Khattab, and it is said, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq. This is considered weak because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed him to lead the prayer. So, when the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) passed away, and Usama's army was encamped at al-Jurf, as we mentioned earlier, Abu Bakr was released from Usama to allow Umar ibn al-Khattab to stay with him for guidance. He allowed this to him.

- .... And al-Tirmidhi narrated it from the hadith of Malik and said: A sound and good hadith. Many of the major figures among the early immigrants and the Ansar were appointed in his army, and one of the largest of them was Umar ibn al-Khattab. Those who say that Abu Bakr was among them are mistaken, for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was severely afflicted by illness, and Usamah's army was encamped at the Jurf, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had instructed Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer, as will be mentioned. How could he be in the army while he is the imam of the Muslims by the command of the Messenger (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) from the Lord of the worlds? Even if it were assumed that he had been appointed with them, the legislator had excluded him from among them by explicitly naming him for the leadership in prayer, which is the greatest pillar of Islam. Then, when he (the Prophet) passed away, the Siddeeq (Abu Bakr) released Umar ibn al-Khattab from Usamah, and he was permitted to stay with the Siddeeq, while the Siddeeq carried out Usamah's army.

- .... Usamah ibn Zayd ibn Harithah, Abu Zayd al-Kalbi .... The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed him in the last days of his life, and he was then eighteen or nineteen years old, and he died while he was the commander of a large army that included Umar ibn al-Khattab and it is said, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and he was inexperienced because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had appointed him for the position of leadership.... For this reason, Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) would not encounter Usamah except to say to him: Peace be upon you, O commander. And when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed him with a command flag, some people criticized his leadership, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood and addressed the people, saying: If you criticize his leadership, you have criticized the leadership of his father before him. By Allah, he was worthy of leadership and he is one of the most beloved of Allah's creation to me after him. This is established in the authentic narrations from Musa ibn Uqbah, from Salim, from his father.

- The expedition of Usamah ibn Zayd ibn Harithah, then the expedition of Usamah ibn Zayd ibn Harithah to the people of Ubna, which is in the land of al-Sarawat, near al-Balqa. They said: When it was Monday, four nights remaining in Safar in the year eleven after the Hijrah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded the people to prepare for an expedition against the Romans. When the next day came, he called Usamah ibn Zayd and said: "March to the place where your father was killed and show them the strength of horses, for I have appointed you as the leader of this army. Arouse a sudden attack in the morning on the people of Ubna and strike fear into them. Travel swiftly to outpace the news. If Allah grants you victory, do not prolong your stay among them, and take with you guides, placing scouts and vanguards in front of you." When Wednesday came, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) began to experience fever and a headache. When it was Thursday morning, he entrusted Usamah with a banner in his hand and then said: "Go forth in the name of Allah, in the way of Allah, and fight those who disbelieve in Allah." He set out with his banner wound and handed it to Buraydah ibn al-Husayb al-Aslami, and encamped at al-Jurf. There was not one of the notable figures among the early emigrants and the helpers who did not volunteer for this expedition, including Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, Umar ibn al-Khattab, Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, Sa'id ibn Zayd, Qatadah ibn al-Na'man, and Salamah ibn Aslam ibn Huraish. Some people spoke out and said: "Will this young man be appointed over the early emigrants?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) became very angry and came out with a bandage wrapped around his head and a quilted cloak over him. He ascended the pulpit, praised Allah, and extolled Him, then said: "As for what follows, O people, what I have heard about some of you regarding my appointing Usamah is concerning. If you criticize my appointment of Usamah, you are indeed criticizing my appointment of his father before him...."

Abu Bakr, who had been sitting, sprang to his feet, grasped Umar's beard, and said: "May your mother mourn you, son of al-Khattab! Usama said to him: "O Khalifah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), by Allah, you will either ride or I will make you dismount." Abu Bakr replied: "By Allah, you will not make me dismount, nor will you ride, and it does not matter to me: to have my feet dusted for a while in the path of Allah." - .... Ibn Mundhir mentioned that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed Usama ibn Zayd to lead the army that he dispatched to Mu'tah during his illness in which he passed away. However, this is not significant, for the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had appointed his father, Zayd ibn Harithah, as the commander of the army that went to Mu'tah, saying, "If he is killed, then Ja'far ibn Abi Talib." If Ja'far is killed, "then Abdullah ibn Rawaha." As for Usama, the Prophet appointed him to an army and instructed him to march to the Levant as well and among them was Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). So when the illness of the Messenger of Allah became severe, he instructed that Usama's army should set out, and they did so after his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) death, and this was not the expedition of Mu'tah, and Allah knows best.

- Usama ibn Zayd ibn Haritha from the Kinana clan of Awf, Abu Muhammad: a revered companion. He was born in Mecca and grew up in Islam because his father was one of the first people to convert. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) loved him dearly and looked at him with the same affection he showed his grandsons, Hasan and Husayn. He emigrated with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to Medina, and the Messenger of Allah appointed him to a task before he reached twenty years of age, so he was victorious and successful. When the Messenger of Allah passed away, Usama traveled to the Valley of the Villages (Wadi al-Qura) and settled there. He then moved to Damascus during the reign of Muawiya, settling in al-Mazzah. He later returned to Medina and stayed there until he died at al-Jurf in the final years of Muawiya's caliphate. In the books of Hadith, there are 128 narrations attributed to him. And in the history of Ibn Asakir, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah appointed Usama to lead an army that included Abu Bakr and Umar.

- The Expedition of Usamah ibn Zayd ibn Harithah to Ubna, which is in the Land of al-Sharaat near al-Balqaa', they said: When it was Monday, four days before the end of Safar in the eleventh year of the Hijrah, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) commanded the people to prepare for an expedition against the Romans. Then, on the following day, he called Usamah ibn Zayd and said: "March to the location of your father's death and put them under the hooves of horses, for I have entrusted you with this army. When Thursday morning came, he tied a banner with his own hand for Usamah and then said: "Go forth in the name of Allah and in the path of Allah, and fight those who disbelieve in Allah!" He set out with his banner tied, then handed it over to Buraydah ibn al-Husayb al-Aslami and camped at al-Jurf. He ascended the pulpit, praised Allah, and thanked Him, then said: "As for now, O people, what I have heard from some of you regarding my appointing Usamah is unacceptable, and if you criticize my leadership of Usamah, you are indeed criticizing my leadership of him before. By Allah, he is deserving of leadership..."

30264 - Narrated from Urwah: that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had sent an expedition before the Battle of Mu'tah and appointed Usamah ibn Zayd as their commander, and in that expedition were Abu Bakr and Umar. Some people began to criticize this decision of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to appoint Usamah as their leader. So, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up and addressed the people, saying: "Indeed, there are some among you who are criticizing the appointment of Usamah, and they are doing so just as they criticized the appointment of his father before him. By God, he was indeed worthy of leadership, and he was one of the most beloved people to me. His son is one of the most beloved people to me after him, and I hope he will be among your righteous ones. So, treat him well."
30265 - Urwah said: Usamah ibn Zayd had prepared for battle and his belongings had been sent out to the war, but he stayed those days due to the illness of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed him over an army, the majority of whom were immigrants, including Umar ibn al-Khattab. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) instructed him to launch an attack on the people of Mu'tah and on the area of Palestine where Zayd ibn Harithah had been martyred. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sat by a tree stump, and the Muslims gathered to greet him and pray for his well-being. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called Usamah ibn Zayd and said: "Set out in the blessing of Allah, and with His victory and protection, then go where I commanded you to launch an attack." Usamah replied: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! I have now become fully alert, and I hope that Allah has healed you. So, grant me permission to stay until Allah heals you, for if I leave in this condition, I will do so with a pang of distress in my heart regarding you, and I dislike the idea of being asked about you." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) fell silent and did not respond to him, then he stood up and entered the house of A'isha.

30266 - Musnad al-Siddiq: Al-Waqidi narrated to me: Abdullah ibn Ja'far ibn Abdur-Rahman ibn Azhar ibn Awf, from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Usamah ibn Zayd, that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) ordered him to raid the people of the two sons of Sabah and to burn them. They said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to Usamah: "Proceed in the name of Allah." So he set out with his banner tied, and handed it to Buraidah ibn al-Husayb al-Aslami, who took it out to Usamah. And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) commanded Usamah to camp at al-Jarf and to pitch his camp in the place of Solomon's cistern today. People began to prepare to go out to the camp, and those who finished their needs would go to their camp, while those who did not complete their needs were free. And no one from the early Emigrants remained except that they volunteered for that expedition: Umar ibn al-Khattab, Abu Ubaydah, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, and Abu al-Awfar Sa'id ibn Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl, along with some men from the Emigrants and the Helpers. The strongest among them in terms of numbers were Qatadah ibn al-Na'man and Salamah ibn Aslam ibn Harish. He said: Men from the Emigrants, and the one most vocal among them in that was Uyayash ibn Abi Rabi'ah: "This young man will be appointed over the early Emigrants." So there was much discussion about this, and Umar ibn al-Khattab heard some of this talk and responded to those who spoke. He came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and informed him of what some were saying. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) became very angry, went out with a cloth bound around his head and a cloak on, then ascended the pulpit. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "As for what follows, O people, what I have heard about some of you regarding my appointment of Usamah? By Allah, if you criticize my appointment of Usamah, you are indeed criticizing my appointment of his father before him...."

30268 - Musnad al-Siddiq: Saif ibn Umar from al-Zuhri from Abu Dumrah, Abu Umar, and others from al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Hasan, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) dispatched a battalion before his death against the people of Medina and those around them, including Umar ibn al-Khattab, and appointed Usamah ibn Zayd to lead them. They did not go beyond the last of them at the trench until the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was taken....

- .... And it was also revealed regarding him: {And they prefer them over themselves, even if they are in privation thereof} (Al-Hashr 59:9). Glory be to God, Usamah was more beloved to the Messenger of God than his own self, and he had heard repeatedly the Messenger of God's insistence that he march with his army to Mu'tah until he said, "May Allah curse those who remain behind from Usamah's army." But they made excuses and did not leave his camp until the Messenger of God passed away (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Messenger of God's intention in sending this expedition was thus thwarted.

- .... When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) fell ill with the illness of death, he called for Usama ibn Zaid ibn Haritha and said: "March to the place of your father's murder and position the cavalry among them, for I have appointed you as commander over this army. And if Allah grants you victory over the enemy, do not delay in returning, spread out your scouts, and send forward the vanguards." There did not remain anyone among the notable figures of the Emigrants (Muhajirin) and the Helpers (Ansar) except that they were in that army, including Abu Bakr and Umar. Then some people spoke and said: "Will this young man be put in charge over the esteemed Emigrants and Helpers?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) became angry when he heard this and emerged with his head wrapped, ascended the pulpit, and draped in a cloak, and said: "O people, what is this statement that has reached me from some of you regarding my appointment of Usama? If you criticize my appointment of Usama, you are indeed criticizing my appointment of his father before him. By Allah, he was worthy of leadership, and his son after him is also worthy of it."
