- Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis ibn Abd Allah ibn Afan ibn Hazar ibn Awf ibn Hani ibn Bali ibn Amr, as mentioned by Ibn Ufair. Ibn Ufair said:
"And he was among those who pledged allegiance under the tree," and he was killed during the time of Muawiyah. Two hadiths have been reported from him.
- Narrated to me by Abu al-Qasim ibn al-Samarqandi, who said: Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Muhammad narrated to me, who said: Abu al-Qasim Isa ibn Ali narrated to me, who said: Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to me, who said:
"Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis al-Ba'alawi was among those who pledged allegiance under the tree," and he was killed during the time of Muawiyah.
- Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis al-Balawi ibn Amr ibn Ubayd ibn Kulab ibn Dhahman ibn Ghunnam ibn Humaym ibn Dhahl ibn Hani ibn Bali ibn Amr pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) under the tree, witnessed the Conquest in Egypt, and settled in Egypt. He was one of the noted knights of Bali in Egypt and the commander of the cavalry that marched from Egypt to Uthman ibn Affan. He was among those whom Muawiyah expelled from Egypt as hostages. Abu Thawr al-Fahmi narrated from him, and both were companions of the Prophet, as well as al-Haytham ibn Shafi, and Subayyil al-Hajri. All of them witnessed the Conquest in Egypt. Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis was killed in Palestine in the year thirty-six.
- Abu al-Fath Yusuf ibn Abd al-Wahid narrated to us: Shuja ibn Ali told me: Abu Abd Allah ibn Mundah said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis al-Balawi
"was among those who pledged allegiance under the tree." He is counted among the people of Egypt and is the son of Amr ibn Ubayd ibn Kulab ibn Dhahman ibn Ghunnam ibn Humaym ibn Dhahl ibn Bali ibn Amr. He pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) under the tree and witnessed the opening of Egypt. His lineage was traced by Abu Sa'id ibn Yunus ibn Abd al-Ala, who said that Abd al-Rahman ibn Shamasah and Abu Thawr al-Fahmi narrated from him.
- Abu Ali al-Haddad informed us, saying: Abu Na'im the Hafiz said to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis al-Balawi
"was among those who pledged allegiance under the tree," and he was killed during the time of Muawiyah in the hill of Khalil. It was said that he was one of those who marched to Uthman. Some later scholars traced his lineage, stating: He is Abd al-Rahman ibn Udayyis ibn Amr ibn Ubayd ibn Kulab ibn Dhahman ibn Ghunnam ibn Humaym ibn Dhahl ibn Bali ibn Amr ibn al-Haf ibn Qudaa'ah.
He pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) under the tree, witnessed the Conquest of Egypt, settled there, and was one of the knights of Bali in Egypt. He was among those who marched to Uthman and was killed in the year thirty-six in Palestine.
