He fled from him, so Sufyan ibn Mujib sought him. A man from Quraysh, who was an archer, reached him and gestured to him with a missile. Ibn Adiyyis said: "I beseech you by Allah concerning my blood, for I am one of those who pledged allegiance under the tree." The man replied, "There are many trees in the mountain," or he said, "in the Galilee," and killed him. Ibn Luheiya said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Adiyyis al-Balawi led the people of Egypt against Uthman and they killed him. Then Ibn Adiyyis was killed a year or two later in the mountains of Lebanon or in the Galilee. This was also narrated by Uthman ibn Salih from Ibn Luheiya, from I'yash ibn I'yash, from Abu al-Husayn, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Adiyyis, in a similar meaning to the raised hadith, and then regarding his killing. Amr ibn al-Harith narrated it from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abd al-Rahman, in a similar meaning to the raised hadith. I was told that Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Dhahli said, "Abd al-Rahman al-Balawi is the head of the fitnah (trial); it is not permissible to narrate anything from him...."
