2783 - Suraij narrated to us, saying: Nuḥ ibn Qays narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Malik al-Nakari, from Abu al-Jawzaa, from Ibn Abbas, who said: There was a beautiful woman praying behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He said that some of the men would advance in the front row so that they would not see her, while others would withdraw until they were in the back row. And when she would bow, they would look from under their armpits. Then Allah, the Almighty, revealed concerning her: {And We indeed know the ones who advance among you and We indeed know the ones who delay} (Surah al-Hijr 15:24).

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

"There was a woman who performed Salat behind the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) who was the most beautiful among the people. Some of the people would go forward to the first line so as not to see her. Others would go back to the last line so when he would bow, he could look at her from under his armpit. So Allah revealed: Indeed We know those who try to come forward among you, and We know those who try to go back (15:24).
