2805 - Muhammad ibn Salih ibn Hani narrated to me, saying: Ibrahim ibn Abi Talib narrated to us, and Abu Ali al-Hafiz narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn al-Abbas al-Bajjali informed us, both saying: Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, from Shubay'ah, who said: I heard Abu Ishaq narrating from Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "I was with Thabit ibn Wadi'ah and Qarzah ibn Kab (may Allah be pleased with him) at a wedding feast, and I heard a sound. I said, 'Do you not hear?' They both replied, 'It is permitted to have vocal music at a wedding and to weep for the deceased, without lamentation.'" This is a soundHadith according to the standards of the two Shaykhs, and they did not include it in their collections. Sharik ibn Abd Allah narrated it from Abu Ishaq with an explanation in summary.

2806 - He narrated to us: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Darm al-Hafiz, who said: Umar ibn Ja'far al-Muzani narrated to us, Abu Ghassan Malik ibn Isma'il narrated to us, and Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq from Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "I entered upon Qarzah ibn Ka'b and Ubayy ibn Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) at a wedding feast, and there were maidens singing. I said: 'You are the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and the people of Badr. Is this happening in your presence?' They both replied: 'If you wish, you may stay with us, and if you wish, you may go.' For it is a concession that has been granted to us for merriment at weddings and for mourning at times of loss." Sharik added: "I believe he said, not in lamentation."

- .... And on this topic, from Amir ibn Sa'd who said: "I entered upon Qarzah ibn Kab and Abi Mus'ud al-Ansari at a wedding feast, and there were maidens singing. I said: 'Are any of you companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), who were present at Badr, doing this in your presence?' They replied: 'Sit if you wish and listen with us, or go away, for it has been permitted for us to engage in merriment at a wedding feast.'" Narrated by al-Nasa'i and al-Hakim, and he declared it authentic.

5539 - Ali ibn Hajar narrated to us, saying: Sharik narrated to us from Abu Ishaq from Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "I entered upon Qurth ibn Kab and Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari at a wedding, and there were girls singing. I said: 'You are companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and among the people of Badr. Is this being done in your presence?' They replied: 'Sit if you wish and listen with us, or go if you prefer. For it has been made permissible for us to engage in play at weddings.'"

1 - Az-Zuhri narrated from 'Amir ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: "I entered upon Qurthah ibn Ka'b and Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari at a wedding, and there were girls singing. I said: 'You are companions of the Messenger of Allah and among the people of Badr - is this being done in your presence?' They both replied: 'If you wish, listen with us, and if you wish, go. We have been given permission for amusement at weddings.'" This was narrated by an-Nasa'i and al-Hakim, who both deemed it authentic.

6977 - Fadhl narrated to us, saying: Abdul Hamid al-Hamani narrated to us, saying: Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq from Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "I entered upon Qurthah ibn Ka'b, and Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari, and Thabit ibn Qais, and there were female singers with them singing. I said: 'Are you doing this when you are companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?' They replied: 'If you can hear, then listen; otherwise, go on. For indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) granted permission for enjoyment during weddings and for weeping over the deceased.'"
