It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Salama. He heard the tradition from his father who said:

We arrived at Hudaibiya with the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) and we were fourteen hundred in number. There were fifty goats for them which could not be watered (by the small quantity of water in the local well). So, the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) sat on the brink of the well. Either he prayed or spat into the well The water welled up. We drank and watered (the beasts as well).

1611 - Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Hatem ibn Isma'il narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Musmar, from Amir ibn Sa'd, from his father, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) speaking to him and standing behind him in one of his campaigns, and Ali (peace be upon him) said: "Are you leaving me with the women and children?" He said: "O Ali, would you not be pleased to be in relation to me like Harun (Aaron) to Musa (Moses), except that there is no prophet after me?" And I heard him say on the day of Khaybar, "I will surely give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger and whom Allah and His Messenger love." So we all held out our hands for it. He said: "Call me Ali," and he was brought to him, his eye was sore. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) spat in his eye and handed him the banner, and Allah opened [Khaybar] for him. And when this verse was revealed: {So whoever argues with you about him after knowledge has come to you, say, 'Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves. Then let us supplicate, and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars' } (Surah Al-Imran 3:61), the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and said: "O Allah, these are my family."

10876 - And from Malik ibn Hamzah ibn Abi Asaid, from his father, from his grandfather, Abu Asaid al-Sa'idi al-Khazraji, who had a well in Medina called the Well of Buda'a, in which the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had spit, so it was a source of glad tidings and blessings for him. He said: When Abu Asaid stopped watering his garden, he placed it in a room. Then a ghoul would oppose him and go to his drinking place and steal his dates, ruining them for him. He complained about this to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), who said: "That is the ghoul, O Abu Asaid. Listen for it, and if you hear it coming, say: 'In the name of Allah, respond to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny).' " The ghoul said, "O Abu Asaid, spare me the burden of having to go to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and I will give you a pledge from Allah that I will not oppose you in your home or steal your dates, and I will guide you to a verse that you can recite in your home, and I will not oppose you to your family, and you can recite it over your vessels, and we will not uncover their lids." He gave her the pledge she was satisfied with. Then she said, "The verse I will guide you to is Ayat al-Kursi." Then she flicked her tail and farted. So he went to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and narrated the story to him where she had turned away. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "She spoke the truth, and she is a liar." Al-Tabarani narrated it, and its men were all trustworthy, although there was some weakness in some of them.

So the people spent the night mentioning among themselves who would be given it. When morning came, they went out to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He said, "Where is Ali?" They said, "He is here, O Messenger of Allah, blind in one eye and complaining of his eyes." So he sent for him and he (the Prophet) spat in his eyes and prayed for whatever Allah wished, and he was healed until there was no pain left in him....
