- Sheikh Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abd al-Samad, from his grandfather, from the jurist Abu al-Hasan, from Abu al-Barakat Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Jawzi, from al-Saduq, from al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Said, from Furāt ibn Ibrahim, from
Ja'far ibn Muhammad ibn Bishruya, from
Muhammad ibn Idris ibn Said al-Ansari, from
Dawud ibn Rashid and
al-Walid ibn Shu'ja ibn Marwan, from Asim, from Abdullah ibn Salman al-Farsi, from his father, who said: I left my home one day ten days after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) the cousin of the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), met me and said: O Salman, you have been distant from us after the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). I replied: My beloved Abu al-Hasan, someone like you cannot be distanced, but my grief for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) has lingered, and it is this that has prevented me from visiting you. He (peace be upon him) said: O Salman, go to the home of Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), for she is yearning for you and wants to gift you with a present that she has been gifted from Paradise. I said to Ali (peace be upon him): Has Fatimah (peace be upon her) been gifted something from Paradise after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)? He said: Yes, yesterday.
Salman al-Farsi said: So I hurried to the house of Fatimah (peace be upon her), the daughter of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny),
and behold, she was sitting there, wearing a piece of a cloak. When she uncovered her head, her lower leg was revealed, and when she covered her leg, her head was uncovered. When she saw me, she covered herself and then said: O Salman, you have been distant from me since the death of my father (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). I replied: My beloved, shall I be distant from you? She asked: Then why? Sit and understand what I say to you. I was sitting yesterday in this gathering with the door of the house closed, thinking about the cessation of the revelation from us and the departure of the angels from our home, when suddenly the door opened without anyone opening it, and three maidens entered. Those who saw them had never seen anyone as beautiful as them, nor in their form, nor as radiant in their faces, nor with a fragrance as pure as theirs. When I saw them, I stood up to them, not recognizing them, and asked: By my father, are you from the people of Mecca or from the people of Medina? They replied: O daughter of Muhammad, we are not from the people of Mecca or from the people of Medina or from any people of the earth, but we are maidens from among the houris of Paradise, from the Garden of Peace. Your Lord, the Almighty, sent us to you, O daughter of Muhammad, for we are yearning for you.
