2377 - Muhammad ibn Sulayman and Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Qabeesah ibn Uqbah narrated to us from Sufyan al-Thawri, from Alqamah ibn Murthad, from Sulayman ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) conquered Makkah, he came to a part of a grave and sat beside it, and the people gathered around him. He (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appeared to be in a state of addressing someone. Then he stood up (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), weeping. Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra), who was one of the boldest people towards him (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), approached and said: O Messenger of Allah, my father and mother be sacrificed for you! What is it that makes you weep? He (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: This is the grave of my mother. I asked my Lord's permission to visit her grave, and He granted it to me. I asked for permission to seek forgiveness for her, but He did not grant it to me. I remembered her, so I stood and wept. He said: Never was there seen one weeping more than on that day.
