- .... {Do not make the supplication of the Messenger (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) among you like the supplication of one another} (Surah an-Nur 24:63). And when Abu Ja'far al-Mansur was debating Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abbas, the second caliph of the Bani Abbas, with Malik in his (peace be upon him) mosque, Malik said to him, "O Commander of the Faithful, do not raise your voice in this mosque, for Allah, the Exalted, instructed some people, saying: {Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet} (Surah al-Hujurat 49:2). And his sanctity in death is like his sanctity in life." Abu Ja'far humbled himself
and said to Malik, "O Abu Ubaydullah, should I face the Qiblah and supplicate, or should I turn toward the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)?" Malik replied, "Why do you turn your face away from him when he is your means and the means of your father Adam to Allah, the Exalted, on the Day of Resurrection? Rather, face him and seek intercession through him, and Allah will intercede for you, for he will accept your intercession on your behalf." Allah, the Exalted, said: {And if only they had, when they wronged themselves} (Surah an-Nisa 4:64), meaning by turning to the taghut, which was Kab ibn al-Ashraf, who was called a taghut for his arrogance, excessive tyranny, and enmity toward the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). {Come to you} (Surah an-Nisa 4:64) repentant from their hypocrisy; {and seek forgiveness from Allah} (Surah an-Nisa 4:64) for what had preceded from them ....
