- Ṣāliḥ ibn Aḥmad * ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Qays ibn Hudhayl ibn Yazīd ibn al-ʿAbbās ibn al-Aḥnaf ibn Qays, the imam, scholar, hāfiẓ, and trustworthy narrator, Abu al-Faḍl ibn al-Kumlādhī al-Temīmī al-Aḥnafī al-Hamadhānī al-Simsār. He narrated from his father, Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aws, Muḥammad ibn al-Murār ibn Ḥamwiyya, ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Saʿd al-Bazzāz, Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿIzwun, Qāsim ibn Ibrāhīm, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Nabīl, al-Qāsim ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ, ʿAbd al-Salām ibn ʿAbdīl, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Ḥātim al-Rāzī, ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn Mahruyih al-Qazwīnī, and many others. He gathered and composed works and was narrated from by: Ṭāhir ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Māhila, Ḥamd al-Zajjāj, Aḥmad ibn Zanjuyah al-ʿUmarī, Ṭāhir ibn Aḥmad al-Imām, Abū al-Fatḥ ibn Abī al-Fawāris, Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Zanbīl al-Nahawandī, and others. Al-Hāfiẓ Shirwayh al-Daylamī said: "He was a pillar among the pillars of hadith, a trusting, preserving, pious, and honest man, who did not fear the blame of anyone in Allah." He had numerous writings. He was born in the year 303 AH and died eight days before the end of Shaʿbān in the year 384 AH, and supplications are accepted at his grave. Abū Bakr ibn Lāl prayed over him, and it was conveyed to us that he said: "We used to refrain from sins out of fear of Allah, and two-thirds of that was due to shame before this scholar. May Allah have mercy on him."

Al-Dhahabi - Siyar A'lam al-Nubalā - Volume 22 - Ibn Lāl
Volume: (17) - Page Number: (75/76)
- Ibn Lāl * Sheikh, Imam, Faqih, Muhaddith Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Farj ibn Lāl al-Hamadhani al-Shafi'i. He narrated from his father, al-Qasim ibn Abi Salih, Abd al-Rahman al-Jallab, Abdullah ibn Ahmad al-Za'faranī, Isma'il al-Saffar, Ali ibn al-Fadl al-Sistori, Abu Sa'id ibn al-A'rabi, Abu Nasr Muhammad ibn Hamdawayh al-Maruzi, Hafs ibn Umar al-Ardabili, Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Shwazhib, and many others. He undertook a journey and had memorization and knowledge. He was narrated from by: Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Abahri, Muhammad ibn Isa al-Sufi, Humayd ibn al-Mamun, Abu Mas'ud Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Bajjali, Ahmad ibn Isa ibn Ibad, Abu al-Faraj Abd al-Hamid ibn al-Hasan, and others. He was an Imam, multifaceted in knowledge. Shirwayh said: "He was a trustworthy, unique figure of his time, the mufti of the town, and he had writings in the sciences of hadith, although he was famous for his jurisprudence." He added: "I saw his book on Sunan and a Mu'jam of the Companions; I have not seen anything better than them and supplication at his grave is answered." He was born in the year 308 AH and died in the month of Rabi' al-Thani in 398 AH. Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Bundar al-Ranjani al-Fardhi said: "I never saw anyone like Ibn Lāl, may Allah have mercy on him." I say: supplication is answered at the graves of the prophets and saints and in other places, but the reason for acceptance is the presence of the supplicant, their humility, and their sincerity. Without a doubt, this can often be achieved in the blessed place, in the mosque, during the last part of the night, and similar settings. Every distressed person finds that their supplication is answered.

Al-Dhahabi - Siyar A'lam al-Nubala' - Volume 23 - Urdustanī
Part: (17) - Page Number: (428)
- Urdustanī: The imam, hafiz, itinerant scholar, pious worshiper Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Ahmad Urdustanī, heard from a great many and narrated from Abu al-Shaikh, Abu Bakr ibn al-Muqri', Yusuf al-Qawwās, Ibn Shahīn, Abd al-Wahhab al-Kalābī, al-Qāsim ibn Alqamah al-Abharī, Isma'il ibn Hājib al-Kushānī, and others. He narrated to him from the Sahih and met Abu Zur'ah al-Muqri' in Acre, reciting to a group. Those who narrated from him include: Muhammad ibn Uthman al-Qumsānī, Ibn Mamān, Dhafar ibn Hibat Allah, and others from the Humazanians. Abu Nasr al-Shirāzī al-Muqri' also narrated from him, as did al-Bayhaqī in his books, describing him as knowledgeable. Shirūyeh said: "He was trustworthy and excelled in this field." I heard several people say: "There is no man with a need concerning this world or the Hereafter who visits his grave and prays except that Allah will respond to him." He said: "I have experienced this myself." He narrated from him in the year 493 AH from the Sahih al-Bukhārī of Abd al-Ghaffār ibn Tāhir in Hamadhan. I say: He is one whom Ibn Asākir failed to mention in his History, and despite his knowledge of narrations, he was devoted to the Book of Allah and held in high regard. He studied in Basra under Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Abbās al-Asfāṭī and Ahmad ibn Ubayd Allah al-Nahrdīrī, and he was also known to be titled Abu Ja'far. He died in the year 524 AH.
