- Imam Ahmad said: Hujjain ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Abdul Aziz, meaning Ibn Abi Salamah al-Majshun, narrated to us from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha
from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would enter the house of Umm Sulaym and sleep on her bed while she was not there. One day he came and slept on her bed, and she came and it was said to her: This is the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sleeping in your house on your bed. So she came, and he was sweating, and his sweat was pooling on a piece of leather on the bed. She opened her container and began to dry that sweat, squeezing it into her bottles. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) startled and said: What are you doing, O Umm Sulaym? She replied: O Messenger of Allah, we hope for your blessing for our children. He said: You have done well. And Muslim narrated it from Muhammad ibn Rafi' from Hujjain with a similar wording.
- Ahmad said: Hisham ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, saying: Sulayman narrated to us from Thabit
from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) entered upon us and said he would stay with us, and he perspired. My mother came with a bottle and began to collect the sweat in it. The Messenger of Allah awakened and said: O Umm Sulaym, what is this that you are doing? She said: Your sweat, which we are putting in our perfume, and it is the finest of perfumes. Muslim narrated it from Zuhair ibn Harb from Abi al-Nadr Hisham ibn al-Qasim with a similar wording.
- Ahmad said: Ishaq ibn Mansur, meaning the Sululi, narrated to us, saying: Imarah, meaning Ibn Zadhan, narrated to us from Thabit
from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allah would take a midday rest (qi'il) at Umm Sulaym's, and he was one of the most perspiring of people. She made a mat for him to rest on, and he would take his midday rest on it, placing something between his legs. She would dry the sweat and take it. He said: What is this, O Umm Sulaym? She replied: Your sweat, O Messenger of Allah, I am using it in my perfume. He then prayed for her with a good supplication. Ahmad reported this uniquely from this source.
- Ahmad said: Muhammad ibn Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Hamid
from Anas narrated that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) slept, he would sweat. People would take his sweat with a piece of cotton in a bottle and keep it in their musk. This is a triadic chain of transmission that meets the criteria of the two shaykhs, who did not include it in their collections, nor did either of them.
- Al-Bayhaqi said: Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us, saying: Abu Amr al-Maghribi narrated to me, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated, and Muslim said: Abu Bakr ibn Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Afan narrated to us, saying: Wahib narrated to us from Ayyub from Abi Qalabah from Anas
from Umm Sulaym that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would come to her and take a midday rest with her. She would spread a mat for him, and he would rest on it, and he was very sweaty. She would collect his sweat and put it in perfume and bottles. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: O Umm Sulaym, what is this? She said: Your sweat, which I am using to flavor my perfume. This is the wording of Muslim.
- Abi Ya'la al-Mawsili said in his Musnad: Bosr narrated to us, saying: Huleis ibn Ghalib narrated to us, saying: Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj
from Abu Huraira who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have married my daughter and would love for you to assist me with something. He said: I have nothing with me, but if tomorrow you bring me a wide-mouthed jar and a tree twig, an sign between you and me will be that you tap the side of the door. The next day, he brought him a wide-mouthed jar and a tree twig. The Messenger of Allah began to collect the sweat from his arms until the jar was full. He said: Take this and tell your daughter to dip this twig in the jar and perfume herself with it. She would, and when she did, the people of the city would smell the fragrance of the perfume, and they began to call the houses of those who smelled it the houses of the perfumed. This is a very strange hadith.
