6996 - Ahmad ibn Kamil al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Ruh al-Madayini narrated to us, saying: Shababah narrated to us, saying: Abu Malik al-Nakha'i narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Nabih al-Anzi from Um Ayman (ra), who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up at night by a small jar beside the house and urinated in it. I got up at night, feeling thirsty, and drank what was in the jar without realizing it. When the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) became morning, he said: "O Um Ayman, go to that jar and pour out what is in it." I said: "By Allah, I have already drunk what was in it." He then laughed, showing his teeth, and said: "You will not have an upset stomach from it ever again."

- .... And something like this has been narrated from him regarding a woman who drank his urine, to whom he said: "You will never complain of a stomach ache," and he did not command any of them to wash their mouths, nor did he prohibit them from returning. The story of this woman who drank his urine is authentic, and al-Darqutni insisted that Muslim and al-Bukhari include it in their authentic collections, and the name of this woman was Barakah. There is a difference of opinion regarding her lineage, and it is said that she was Umm Ayman and used to serve the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). She said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had a cup made of twigs that was placed under his bed, in which he would urinate at night. He urinated in it one night, then missed it and found nothing in it. He asked Barakah about it, and she said, 'I got up while I was thirsty and drank it.'"

- Ibn al-Athir said in al-Ghaba: And Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated from Ibn Jurayj from Hakima bint Umayma, from her mother, Umayma bint Raqiqah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) had a cup made of twigs in which he would urinate, and he would place it under the bed. Then a woman named Barakah came and drank it. He sought it but did not find it, so it was said, "Barakah drank it." He said, "She has taken a shield from the Fire." Al-Hafiz Abu al-Hasan ibn al-Athir said: And it is said that the one who drank his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) urine was actually Barakah the Abyssinian, who came with Umm Habibah from Abyssinia, and they were separated." - Al-Hafiz Abu Ya'la said: Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Maqdisi narrated to us, saying: Salim ibn Qutaybah narrated to us, from al-Husayn ibn Harith, from Ya'la ibn Ata, from al-Walid ibn Abd al-Rahman from Umm Ayman, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had a small pot in which he would urinate, and when he woke up in the morning, he would say, "O Umm Ayman, pour out what is in the pot." One night, I got up while I was thirsty and drank what was in it. The Messenger of Allah said: "O Umm Ayman, pour out what is in the pot." She replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I got up while I was thirsty and drank what was in it." He said: "You will never complain of a stomach ache after today, ever again."
- Ibn al-Athir said in al-Ghabah: Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated from Ibn Jurayj from Hakimah bint Ummayyah, from her mother, Ummayyah bint Raqiqah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) had a cup made of reeds in which he would urinate, which he would place under his bed. Then a woman named Barakah came and drank it. He sought it but could not find it, so it was said, 'Barakah drank it.' He said: "You have protected yourself from the Fire with a protection."
- Al-Hafiz Abu al-Hasan ibn al-Athir said: And it is said that the one who drank his urine (peace be upon him) was actually Barakah, the Ethiopian woman who came with Umm Habibah from Ethiopia, and they were separated. Allah knows best. I say that as for Barirah, she was from the family of Abu Ahmad ibn Jahsh, and they sought to free her, so Aisha bought her from them and freed her. Her loyalty to Aisha remained, as the hadith states in the two Sahihs, and Ibn Asakir did not mention her.

Volume: (7) - Page Number: (290)
7371 - Umm Ayman: Mawlat al-Rasul Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and his wet nurse, and her name was Barakah. She was Habashi (of Abyssinian descent), and Abdullah, the father of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), freed her. She embraced Islam early, at the beginning of Islam, and migrated to Abyssinia and to Medina, and she pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). It is said that she belonged to the sister of Khadijah, who gifted her to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and it is also said that she belonged to the mother of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). She is the one who drank the urine of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he said to her, "Your abdomen will never ache."
- It is also said that the one who drank his urine was Barakah, the maidservant of Umm Habibah. She was known as Umm Ayman through her son, Ayman ibn Ubayd, and Zayd ibn Harithah married her after Ubayd the Habashi. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would say, "Umm Ayman is my mother after my mother," and he would visit her in her home.

Book of Women - Letter B with a Dot - Volume 1 - 10922: Barakah the Abyssinian
Volume: (8) - Page Number: (47)
10922 - Barakah the Abyssinian was with Um Habibah bint Abi Sufyan, serving her there, and then she came with her. She is the one who drank the urine of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), as mentioned in the narration of Umaymah bint Raqiqah. Abu Umar mixed her up with Um Ayman and narrated in her translatio from the direction of Ibn Jurayj.
- Hakimah bint Umaymah narrated to me from her mother, Umaymah bint Raqiqah, that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) used to urinate in a cup made of sticks, which would be placed under the bed. One night he came, and if the cup was empty. He said to a woman called Barakah, who used to serve Um Habibah and had come with her from the land of Abyssinia, "What happened to the urine that was in this cup?" She replied, "I drank it, O Messenger of Allah."
- Abd al-Razzaq said in his Musannaf from Ibn Jurayj that he was informed: the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) used to urinate in a cup made of sticks, which would be placed under his bed. He came to retrieve it, but when he wanted it, he found the cup empty. He said, "There was a woman called Barakah who was a servant of Um Habibah and came with her from the land of Abyssinia. Where is the urine?" Abu Umar said: "I think Barakah is Um Ayman."

- .... And it was not reported that he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) ordered the one who had sucked his blood to wash his mouth, nor that he washed his mouth from it, just as it was not reported that he commanded his nurse, Umm Aymaan, Barakah al-Habashiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), to wash her mouth, nor did she wash it after she drank his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) urine. Umm Aymaan (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up at night and went to a pitcher, or something, under his bed and urinated in it. I got up, feeling thirsty, and drank what was in the pitcher without realizing it." When the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) woke up, he said: "O Umm Aymaan, go to that pitcher and pour out what is in it." She replied: "By Allah, I drank what was in it." Then he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) laughed until his molars were visible and said: "Your belly will never swell with a 'jafr' (fullness) after this," or, in another wording, "Your belly will not enter the Fire," and in another, "You will not suffer from your belly," which indicates that he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) may have said these three phrases, and each was narrated according to what was heard. Thus, these three matters could occur for Umm Aymaan (may Allah be pleased with her).
- .... And in a narration, instead of a pitcher, it was a container made of long, open stalks of palm trees. If this is authentic, it could be understood as multiple experiences for Umm Aymaan (may Allah be pleased with her), and there is no harm in it. Also, a woman named Barakah bint Tha'labah ibn Amr drank his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) urine. She served Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), who came with her from Abyssinia, and that is why she was called Barakah al-Habashiyyah.

- (and Wudi) in the ghunnah (غُنَّه): thick, turbid, white water that emerges after urination or when lifting something heavy, based on the previous reasoning and by consensus. And these bodily substances from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) are pure, as Al-Baghawi and others firmly asserted, and Al-Qadi and others deemed it correct. My two teachers issued a ruling to this effect, contrary to what is stated in the Small Commentary and the Investigation regarding their impurity, because the slave woman from Abyssinia drank his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) urine, and he said, "Your belly will not enter the Fire," a view that Al-Daraqutni affirmed.
- Benefit: These bodily substances from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) are pure, as Al-Baghawi and others firmly asserted, and Al-Qadi and others deemed it correct, which is the relied-upon position, contrary to what is mentioned in the Small Commentary and the Investigation that they are not considered impure. Because the slave woman from Abyssinia drank his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) urine, and he said, "Your belly will not enter the Fire," a view that Al-Daraqutni affirmed.
