Strange things narrated by Usamah ibn Zayd from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) - Hadith No. 8 - Chapter on the Year of the Tear
Volume: (3) - Page Number: (946)
- Ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, saying: 'Aram narrated to us from Sa'id ibn Zayd from 'Amr ibn Malik
from Abu al-Jawzaa: "The people faced drought and complained to Aisha. She said: 'Look at the grave of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and make it a point towards the sky.'" So they did, and it rained on them until the grass grew and the camels became fat and gave birth, and it was called the Year of the Tear.' His statement, "in the Tear, a blood money," refers to the rupture of the bladder. Zayd ibn Thabit said, "So it is the blood money." Whether he meant the blood money for the tear was reasonable, or if he meant a type of blood money for a life, Abu Mujlz, Shuraih, and al-Sha'bi disagreed with him, considering it to be one-third of the blood money. Malik and Sufyan said it was subject to the discretion of the ruler. And his remark, "called the Year of the Tear," signifies the Year of Fertility. Abu Nasr informed us of this and recited to us: "He seeks refuge with a dark, coarse woman, like a worn-out garment, who did not expect children after the Years of the Tear." He described a hunter and said: "He seeks refuge with a woman, dark and coarse, like a worn-out garment," meaning large, who did not expect children: referring to milk from what befell her due to hardship after years that had passed, in which there was fertility and fatness.
