10772 - Yazid narrated to us, who said: Fudayl ibn Marzuq narrated to us, from Atiyyah al-Oufi, from Abi Sa'id al-Khudri. I then said to Fudayl, "Did he elevate it (to the Prophet)?" He replied, "I think he did elevate it." He said, "Whoever says upon going out to prayer, 'O Allah, I ask You by the right of those who ask You and by the right of my walk,' I did not go out in arrogance, nor in pride, nor in ostentation, nor in a desire for recognition. I went out to avoid Your displeasure and to seek Your satisfaction. I ask You to save me from the Fire and to forgive me my sins, for none can forgive sins except You." Allah will assign to him seventy thousand angels who will seek forgiveness for him, and Allah will turn His face toward him until he finishes his prayer.

It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said:

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever leaves his house for the prayer and says: 'Allahumma inni asa'luka bi-haqqis-sa'ilina 'alaika, wa as'aluka bi-haqqi mamshaya hadha, fa inni lam akhruj asharan wa la batran, wa la riya'an, wa la sum'atan, wa kharajtu-ttiqa'a sukhtika wabtigha'a mardatika, fa as'aluka an tu'idhani minan-nari wa an taghfira li dhunubi, Innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa Anta. (O Allah, I ask You by the right that those who ask of You have over You, and I ask by virtue of this walking of mine, for I am not going out because of pride or vanity, or to show off or make a reputation, rather I am going out because I fear Your wrath and seek Your pleasure. So I ask You to protect me from the Fire and to forgive me my sins, for no one can forgive sins except You),' Allah will turn His Face towards him and seventy thousand angels will pray for his forgiveness."

- Ibn Marduyah narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) used to say when he finished his prayer: "O Allah, I ask You by the right of those who ask You, for the askers have a right over You", that is, any servant or handmaiden from among the inhabitants of land and sea whose supplications You accept and whose prayers You answer, may You include us in the good things they invoke You for, and grant us healing for ourselves and for them, and accept from us and from them, and forgive us and them, as we have believed in what You have revealed and followed the Messenger. So, record us among the witnesses." And he would say: "No one among Your creation should speak this except that Allah will include him in the supplications of the people of righteousness and the people of the sea, thus encompassing them, while he remains in his place."
