Hadith No: 1
Al-Albani - Books on the Narration of the Noble Prophet's Hadith - Hadith Number: (381)
Type of Hadith: Sahih
- Text of the Hadith: He forbade mut'a (temporary marriage) and said: "Indeed, it is forbidden from this day of yours until the Day of Resurrection. And whoever has been given anything, let him not take it back." There is another narration from al-Rabi' ibn Sabra in which he worded it as follows: that he was with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)
and he said: 'O people, I had previously permitted you to engage in temporary marriage with women, but Allah has now made it forbidden until the Day of Resurrection.' So, whoever has any women in his possession, let him free them, and do not take back anything you have given them." In summary, the hadith, with both of its narrations and this witness, is authentic without a doubt. (Note) It has been mentioned in many versions of this hadith that the prohibition occurred on the Day of the Conquest, which is correct, while some state it was during the Farewell Pilgrimage, which is an oddity. See Irwa' al-Ghalil in the narration of the hadithes from Manar al-Sabeel, nos. 1959 and 1960.
