45722 -
Narrated from Abu Qilabah that Umar said: "There were two forms of temporary enjoyment (mut'ah) that were practiced during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). I am forbidding them and striking against them."45723 -
Narrated from Nafie: That a man asked Ibn Umar about the temporary enjoyment of women (mut'ah) and he replied: "It is haram (forbidden)." The man said to him: "Ibn Abbas is issuing fatwas (legal rulings) permitting it." Ibn Umar replied: "Can Ibn Abbas not have a valid opinion on this during the time of Umar? If anyone were to take it up, I would stone him."
45724 - Narrated from Abu Nadrah, who said: "I heard Abdullah ibn Abbas and Abdullah ibn al-Zubair mentioning temporary enjoyment (mut'ah) in women and in Hajj. I entered upon Jabir ibn Abdullah and mentioned that to him, and he said: 'I must have done both during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), but Umar ibn al-Khattab forbade us from them, and I did not do them again.'"
45725 - Narrated from Abu Nadrah, who said: "Ibn Abbas used to command temporary enjoyment (mut'ah), while Ibn al-Zubair used to forbid it. I mentioned this to Jabir ibn Abdullah, and he said: 'In Dhiy Dar, we practiced mut'ah with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). When Umar came, he said: 'Allah allows His Prophet to do what He wills, as He wills, and the Quran has established its position. So complete the Hajj and Umrah as Allah has commanded you, and fulfill the marriages with these women. I will not tolerate anyone who marries a woman except that I will stone them with stones.'"
