45726 - From Sulayman ibn Yasar from Umm Abd Allah, the daughter of Abi Khaythama: that a man came from Shaam and stayed with her, and said: "The desire for intimacy has become strong upon me, so find me a woman with whom I can enjoy myself." She said: So she directed him to a woman, and he made a marriage contract with her. "And let there be witnesses to that, just men." So he stayed with her as long as Allah willed him to stay. Then he left and informed Umar ibn al-Khattab about it. Umar sent for me and asked me: "Is what he said true?" I replied: "Yes." He said: "Then when he comes back, notify me." When he returned, I informed him, so he sent for him and said: "What made you do what you did?" He replied: "I did it with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he did not forbid us from it until Allah took him. Then I did it with Abu Bakr, and he did not forbid us from it until Allah took him. Then I did it with you, and you did not give us a warning against it." Umar said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, if I had issued a warning, I would have stoned you." Make it known, so that marriage is distinguished from illicit relations.
