Hadith No: 2
Al-Tabari - Tafsir al-Tabari - Tafsir of Surah An-Nisa (Chapter 4): 24
Volume: (8) - Page Number: (176)
Interpretation of His Statement, exalted be He: {So whatever you enjoyed of them, give them their due wages, as an obligation}
9032 - Yunus said: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying:
Ibn Zayd said regarding His verse: {So whatever you enjoyed of them, give them their due wages, as an obligation (An-Nisa 4:24)}
He said: This refers to marriage, and what is mentioned in the Quran about marriages (nikahs). If you take them and enjoy them, then give them their wage, the dowry (sadaq) as your due. If she bears something for you from it, it is lawful for you. Allah has ordained upon her a waiting period (iddah) and has mandated for her the inheritance. He said that enjoyment (istimta) here means marriage (nikah) when you have entered into it. Others said, rather, that this means: whatever you enjoyed of them for a wage, it is the enjoyment of pleasure, not a complete marriage in the sense of a marriage that involves a guardian, witnesses, and a dowry. 9034 - Muhammad ibn Amr said: Abu Asim narrated to us, from Isa, from Ibn Abi Najih,
from Mujahid, regarding His statement: {So whatever you enjoyed of them, give them their due wages, as an obligation (An-Nisa 4:24)}
said: This means the marriage of temporary enjoyment (nikah al-mut'ah).
