- .... It has been authentically reported that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade the people from temporary marriage, saying: "There were two types of temporary enjoyment during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and I am forbidding the people from both of them: the temporary enjoyment of women and the temporary enjoyment of Hajj." His interpretation is that he disliked the House being empty of visitors outside the months of Hajj, so he instructed them to perform Umrah with a specific journey outside the months of Hajj, in order to prevent the House from being empty of visitors at any time.

5488 - .... from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and Jabir, and to this the Shiites adhere, because it has been established that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) gave permission for it and it is narrated that Umar said: "There were two temporary marriages during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). Should he then prohibit them and punish for them— the temporary marriage of women and the temporary marriage of pilgrimage."

And this hadith has been narrated from Imran ibn Husayn from various sources with different wordings, and this chain is the best that is narrated in this wording from Imran.

- .... The apparent meaning of the report narrated from Umar regarding the two forms of temporary marriage (mut'a) invalidates this interpretation because he said: "There were two forms of temporary marriage during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). I am the one who forbids them and punishes for them." He associated the prohibition with himself, and if the Messenger had forbidden them, he would have attributed the prohibition to him, which would have been more emphatic and appropriate. He would have said: "So he forbade them both or abrogated them, and I, after him, forbid them and punish for them."
