Volume: (5) - Hadith Number: (269)
7259 - May Allah curse Venus, for she is the one who seduced the two angels with the opening of the letter L (Harut and Marut). It is said that she was a woman who asked them about the name with which they could ascend to the sky, and they taught her that name. She spoke it, and so she ascended and was transformed into a planet, and she is Venus. Ibn Umar used to dislike her. It is also said that Venus descended to them in the form of a woman from Persia and came to the two angels, seducing them. She was then transformed, and they remained on earth because they were given the choice between the punishment of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter, and they chose the punishment of this world. Thus, they are in a chamber of the earth, suspended and clapping with their wings - (Ibn Rahuyah and Ibn Marduyah narrate this from Ali) the Commander of the Faithful.
