6580 - Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, from his own chain, saying: Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Talut ibn Abbad narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ata ibn al-Sa'ib, who said: A man from the people of Kufa entrusted me with his inheritance and claimed that he was a client of the family of Ali ibn Abi Talib. So I came to Medina and entered upon Muhammad ibn Ali and mentioned him to him. He said: "I do not know him, and we have captives, so do not hand him over to them." And he directed me to Umm Kulthum, daughter of Ali. I entered upon her, and there was an old woman on a bed. I mentioned it to her, and she said: "I do not know him, but a client of ours is said to be Kaysān or Hormuz, who told me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to him: 'O Hormuz
or he said: O Kaysān, the family of Muhammad does not eat from charity, and a client of this kind is one of their own, and you are one of them, so do not eat from it.'" She said: "Return this money and distribute it in the land in which he died." Al-Thawri, Hammad ibn Zayd, and Warqat narrated from Ata, and similar reports.
