1869 - Ubaydullah narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, he said: Qurratu narrated to us from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called for a sheet of paper at his death to write a document for his ummah, saying: "They will not go astray, nor will they lead others astray." There was a commotion in the house, and Umar ibn al-Khattab spoke, so the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) rejected it.

2409 - Zuhair narrated to us, saying: Ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Ahwal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said, "On Thursday—and what is Thursday?—a day when the pain increased upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he said, 'Bring me a writing tool and paper, so I can write you a document that you will not go astray after it.'" But they disputed, and it is not appropriate to dispute in the presence of a Prophet. He said, "Leave me, for what I am in is better than what you are asking about." He then commanded them with three things, saying, "Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, and receive the delegations in a manner similar to how I used to receive them," and the third, "I do not know," he said, "either I forgot it or he did not say it."
