- .... Yahya ibn Ayyub said: There was a young man in the city who was fascinated by Umar ibn al-Khattab's (may Allah be pleased with him) demeanor. One night, after returning from the 'Isha (Night) prayer, a woman appeared before him and presented herself to him. He was captivated by her, and she went on. He followed her until he stopped at her door, and he felt a weight lift from his heart. This verse then came to his mind: {Indeed, those who fear [Allah] when a touch of Satan touches them remember [Him], and suddenly they see clearly} (Surah al-A'raf 7:201). He fell down, unconscious. The woman looked at him, and he was like a dead man. She and a maidservant of hers continued to assist each other until they threw him at the door of his house. His father came out and saw him lying at the door, so he carried him inside. He eventually regained consciousness and asked him, "What happened to you, my son?" He did not tell him. His father continued to press him until he finally disclosed it. When his father recited the verse, he let out a gasp, and his soul departed. Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) heard of his story and said: "Why didn't you inform me of his death?" He went and stood at his grave, calling out, "O so-and-so, {And for whoever fears the position of his Lord are two gardens}" (Surah ar-Rahman 55:46) and he heard a voice from inside the grave saying, "My Lord has given me what He promised me, O Umar."

Al-Haqq, Exalted be He, Visits the Grave of Ibn Hanbal
Ibn al-Jawzi - Manaqib al-Imam Ahmad - Chapter Ninety-Two: Mentioning the Visions in which Ahmad ibn Hanbal was Seen
Volume: (1) - Page Number: (607/608)
- Abu Bakr ibn Makarem ibn Abi Ya'la al-Harbi, a righteous elder, narrated to me, saying: In one of the years, there was very heavy rain a few days before the start of Ramadan, and I slept one night in Ramadan. In my dream, I was shown that I had come, as was my custom, to visit the grave of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal. I saw that his grave was pressed to the ground until there was only a space of a handspan or two between it and the earth. I said: "This has only happened at the grave of Imam Ahmad due to the abundance of rain." Then I heard from the grave him saying: "No, rather this is from the awe of Al-Haqq, Exalted be He, because He, Glory be to Him, has visited me. I asked Him about the secret of His annual visits to me, and He, Exalted be He, said: 'O Ahmad, because you have upheld My words, they will be proclaimed and recited in the prayer niches.'" I turned to his grave and kissed it, then said: "O my master, what is the secret that no grave is visited except yours?" He replied: "O son, this is not an honor for me, but an honor for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), for I have with me a few strands of his hair. Indeed, whoever loves me will visit me in the month of Ramadan." He said this twice.
