4871 - Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jahdari informed us in Baghdad, saying: Abu al-Ahwass Muhammad ibn al-Haytham al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Abu Ammar Shaddad ibn Abdullah, from Umm al-Fadl bint al-Harith, that she entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I had a terrible dream about you last night." He (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) asked, "What was it?" She replied, "It was frightening." He said, "What was it?" She said, "I saw a piece of your body cut off and placed in my lap." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "You saw good. Fatimah will, if Allah wills, give birth to a son, and he will be in your lap." Fatimah (peace be upon her) gave birth to Husayn, and he was in my lap, as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had said. I entered one day into the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and placed him in my lap, then I turned my gaze slightly, and there were tears streaming from the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). I said, "O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you! What is the matter with you?" He said: "Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me and informed me that my Ummah will kill my son." I said, "Is this what you meant?" He replied, "Yes, and he brought me a piece of red soil from his grave." This is a sound hadith, meeting the criteria of the Two Shaykhs, though they did not narrate it.

8263 - Abu al-Husayn Ali ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Shaybani informed us in Kufa, saying: Ahmad ibn Hazm al-Ghafari narrated to us, as did Khalid ibn Makhlad al-Qatwani, who both said: Musa ibn Ya'qub al-Zam'i narrated to me, from Hashim ibn Hashim ibn Utbah ibn Abi Waqqas, from Abdullah ibn Wahb ibn Zam'ah, who said: Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one night to sleep, then woke up perplexed. He lay down again and dozed off, then woke up still perplexed, though not as much as he had been the first time he saw it. Then he lay down and woke up, this time holding a red soil in his hand, which he was kissing. I said, "What is this soil, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Gabriel (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) informed me that this is the soil of the land of Iraq where Hussein will be killed. I said to Gabriel, 'Show me the soil of the land where he will be killed,' and this is its soil." This is a sound hadith according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and they did not record it.
