- Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz, Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Qadi, and Abu Muhammad ibn Abi Hamid al-Muqri' narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, saying: Al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri narrated to us, from Khalid ibn Mukhlid, who said: Musa ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, from Hashim ibn Hashim ibn Utbah ibn Abi Waqqas, from Abdullah ibn Wahb ibn Zum'ah, who said: Umm Salamah informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one day to sleep, then woke up, bewildered. He then lay down and slept again, then woke up, still bewildered, though not as much as I had seen from him the first time. Then he lay down and woke up, and in his hand was red soil, which he was turning over. I said, "What is this soil, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Gabriel (peace be upon him) informed me that this will be used to kill Husayn in the land of Iraq." I said, "O Gabriel, show me the soil of the land where he will be killed." So, this is its soil. Musa al-Juhani followed him, narrating from Salih ibn Zayd al-Nakha'i, from Umm Salamah, and Aban from Shahri ibn Hushab, from Umm Salamah.

- Muhammad Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to me, saying: Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawahiri informed us in Baghdad, saying: Abu al-Ahwass Muhammad ibn al-Haytham al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Abu Ammar Shaddad ibn Abdullah, from Umm al-Fadl bint al-Harith, that she entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and said: O Messenger of Allah, I saw a terrible dream involving you last night. He said: And what is it? She replied: It is very serious. He said: And what is it? She said: I saw a piece of your flesh cut off and placed in my lap. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: You saw good. Fatimah will, if Allah wills, give birth to a boy, and he will be in your lap. Fatimah later gave birth to al-Hussein, and he was in my lap as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had said. I entered one day upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and placed him in my lap, and then I happened to glance away. Suddenly, I saw the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) overflowing with tears. She said, so I said: O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be a sacrifice for you! What is wrong with you? He said: Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me and informed me that my nation will kill my son. I said: Is this true? He said: Yes, and he brought me soil from his soil, red.

Then the angel said to Umm Salamah: "Keep an eye on the door; let no one enter." Then he struck with his hand and showed him dust that was red. Umm Salamah took it and tucked it into the corner of her garment, and we used to hear that he would be killed in Karbala." Likewise, Shayban ibn Furukh narrated this from 'Imārāh ibn Zādān.

- Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed me by way of authorization that Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Uthman ibn Yahya narrated to him, saying: Abu Ishma'il Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Sulami narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us. And Abu Abdur Rahman al-Sulami informed me that Abu Muhammad ibn Ziyad al-Sumudhi narrated to them, saying: Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzayma narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahim al-Barqi narrated to us, saying: Sa'id, who is the son of al-Hakam ibn Abi Maryam, narrated to me, saying: Yahya ibn Ayub told me, saying: Ibn Ghaziya, which is Umara, narrated to me from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, who said: Aisha had a chamber, and when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) intended to meet Gabriel, he would meet him there. He ascended it once during such a meeting and instructed Aisha that no one should look in on them. He said that the head of the stair was in Aisha's room. Then Husayn ibn Ali entered, ascended, and she did not realize until he overwhelmed her. Gabriel said: "Who is this?" He replied: "My son." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) took him and placed him on his thigh. Gabriel (peace be upon him) said: "He will be killed; your community will kill him." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "My community?" He replied: "Yes, and if you wish, I can inform you of the land where he will be killed." And Gabriel (peace be upon him) pointed to al-Tuf in Iraq and took a handful of red soil, showing it to him. Thus, Yahya ibn Ayub narrated this from Umara ibn Ghaziya as an unconnected narration, and Ibrahim ibn Abi Yahya narrated it from Umara as a connected one, saying: From Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah, from Aisha.
